Beyond Slow/Nightmare

I ordered a gift on November 26th and I emailed them saying it hasn't come yet on the 16th of December and they said to wait until the 20th and then to reply to them if it doesn't come by then. It doesn't come so I e-mail them on the 21st. It is currently the 23rd I haven't gotten an e-mail back from them saying what they are going to do now. They just lost a customer for their online store.

bait-and-switch 101

I responded to Best Buy's offer of a free screen with the purchase of a computer projector by ordering on 3/25/06. I received the projector but the screen backordered. Then the backorder cancelled 5/19/06. I complained online and they responded as follows
"The promotional product that you contacted us about was included as part of a special promotion that was available only while supplies lasted. Due to high demand we quickly exhausted our inventory and the promotion is no longer available on our web site. As well we do not offer comparable items for promotions that are running, nor do we offer monetary compensation for something that was to be free to the customer."
This strikes me as a classic example of a bait-and-switch tactic to get the order and then modify the offer.

I stopped buying things at Best Buy (unless I absolutely have too) several years ago because of their poor return policy. I prefer Wal Mart or Sears as they have always been great to deal with.

Repacking fee should not apply to any purchases if you cannot test them.

I bought a camcorder which did not work as it should have. When I went to return it, they wanted to charge me a 15% repacking fee. How can a person see and try the product without opening it? And why should I be penalized if the product does not work as it should? They said I needed to purchase a different product so I wouldn't get charged the fee. I, of course asked to speak to a supervisor. They took the camcorder to the Geek Squad and saw that it really did have problems. I refuse to buy any products from them anymore that I cannot open to see if it works without getting penalized. They finally didn't charge me the fee, only after I debated it with them. That is bad for business. However, when I bought the camcorder they had great customer service. I still wouldn't purchase a big item from anymore.

Best buy always has the best staff, nice people and great product reviews and more. I dont know how much I could recomend Best Buy as the best place to shop, they are always on time. I oredered a 65' Big Screen, got it in 1 week time and right on time. The time it took to take it up a hill, through a door and take it out of the box was less then 15min. Thanks best buy for your outstanding service and prices!

I ordered a refrigerator at bestbuy.com on June 20, 2009 and was given a July 10, 2009 "confirmed" delivery date. After checking the order status several times by email and with online customer service,was told everything was fine and they "promised" the delivery would take place on July 10th. They said that on the 9th I would get a call regarding delivery time. On the 9th, no one calls me and after several hours of frustration and calls to Best Buy, I am told that, in fact, my fridge is on back order and the earliest it may be here is July 30th! Bestbuy.com passed the buck to the local store's delivery team, and they said online services should have been aware of the status and emailed me. In the end, because I badly needed a fridge, I settled for one I didn't want from the local store and the folks at bestbuy.com simply credited back the amount they charged my card a month earlier and not another word did I hear from them! Beautiful. And they call themselves BEST BUY!?

Be careful of the "rebates"

I have found Best Buy to be overall expensive compared to everyone else.
I was looking to buy a DVD recorder and found the exact same model as I looked at at Best Buy for $220 less at 6ave electronics in NY. So compare prices there carefully.
And their whole rebate plan is a huge ripoff. I can often get the same items at Sams Club cheaper even after Best Buy's rebates.
I am an industry certified computer technician and teach computer technology at a local community college. Best Buy's employees are overall just sales people with very rudimentary computer knowledge, so I would advise everyone to read Computer Shopper to find the truth on computer topics.
I'll go to Best Buy to look at something so I know what I'm getting when I order online.

Best Buy has WORST Customer Service on Earth!!

I shop at both Best Buy and its online store (Bestbuy.com) before settling on a emachines notebook. The process and selection were good and the price was great when you account for the rebates. My problem came when I tried to exchange my new notebook--which had a bent pin in the card slot--for another of the same model. After reviewing the note book for nearly an hour, they told me to exchange it. When I went to the customer service counter, they told me I had to put it on my credit card. Since it was a gift I refused. I went home and called their toll free customer service who told me the store was wrong, that I could return it to the store. I took it back to the store the next day, and they gave me the SAME RUNAROUND!! Finally, the service department told me that they would send it off for repairs.
BEWARE of Best Buy!! They are horrible on customer service.

Great for window shopping, may stay away from online purchase

Best Buy is my number one resource for electronics. They have great products with a large selections and good service. With that being said, I would stick to traveling to a local Best Buy for the actual purchase rather than using BestBuy.com. I like to restrict the online store to window shopping. On occasion it may be cheaper to order online, but if it can be avoided, I would say stick to the old fashion route.

DON'T PURCHASE FROM BESTBUY.COM!!!

I ordered a Lite-On DVD recorder from bestbuy.com the day after Thanksgiving. What a deal... $199! Well, for the next two months I received emails stating that it was backordered. The last email that I received stated that my order had been cancelled!!!! What's worse, is a few days later, the website listed the Lite-On DVD recorder for $299 and was available for immediate shipment...I can't tell you how disgusted I am with Best Buy and their deceptive practices!!!!
The same day that I ordered the DVD recorder I had ordered DVD-Xcopy Gold with a rebate.... but the rebate wasn't online and it wasn't sent in the box... that's another story for another day... but don't get suckered by these people!!!!

Though "Spiderman 2" for Gamecube starts out listing at Best Buy at $29.99, when you actually click into their site you find the price has changed to 39.99. I find this type of shinanigans typical for Best Buy and this reconfirms my decision to avoid them and their deceptive practices. They play nasty games around their rebates, too.

DON'T BUY ANYTHING THAT THEY PROMISE A FREE GIFT CARD WITH- IT'S A SCAM!!!

I ordered a CD/DVD box set from BestBuy.com which promised a $5 Gift Card with the purchase of the item. This promise was in a promotional e-mail sent where the words "get a $5 Gift Card" were hyperlinked to the BestBuy.com webpage where the box set could be purchased. On the webpage, it stated the Gift Card would be shipped with the box set. When I got the package, there was no $5 Gift Card inside. I called Customer "Care" (ha!), who told me they would look into the matter. A week later, I received an e-mail stating they would not send me the Gift Card because the offer was "in-store" only. This is despite the fact that the e-mail had the words "Get a $5 Gift Card" hyperlinked to the website where the box set could be purchased and the website itself stated the Gift Card would be shipped with the item. I am very disappointed with Best Buy.

Worst store I've ever ordered online from.

It's the worst place I've ever bought from online. I was given constantly changing delivery dates, none of which were kept. I wasn't allowed to cancel my order when it wasn't delivered ontime. Customer services answer to every question was "I don't have that information". When I tried to cancel an order I was told it was too late that it had been shipped. When I asked for the tracking number they told me it hadn't been sent yet. So I asked which is it, has it been sent or not? I was told the standard answer "I don't have that information", so I told them to cancel it and they said they can't do that.I will NEVER buy from them again and I suggest no one else does either unless your life is boring and you want the aggravation.

Very poor customer service, I ordered online and picked up in the store. When I had a problem and went back to the store, the manager refused to help me and referred me to an 800 number.
They have no interest in providing customer satisfaction after the sale. I don't know how they can do business with their poor attitude.

I had been inquiring about this particular CD for a while, so was pleasantly surprised to get it!! Since there is a song on it applying to my husband and I from the 60's, it meant a lot.

Overall very good - tried "in store pick up" to avoid waiting in line at a cashier which did not work out so well as my merchandise was NOT at the pick up counter as promised - so I had to wait about 10 minutes for them to bring it up! I would have been better off walking through the store, picking it up myself, and go out through a cash register!

The reason I order from the warehouse is because here in in Erie,Pa. I have to fight alot of traffic lights and bumper to bumper traffic plus ware and tear of the car and a lot of gas being wasted and when I get there I have to find a parking space, find a employee to ask where this is located and if they have the cd(s) there and if they do I have to wait in line to check out and after checking fight the same on the way, it is more convent this and it saves all that hassle and stress plus I can afford the gas they way the are today.
