Box.net is easy to use and is a great tool for me to store files online and share them with my clients. They have a simple interface, but just wish it didn't look like Windows XP. I liked that you can upload many files at once to save time ...
Photo and video files keep getting bigger, forcing you to adopt one of three strategies. You can upgrade your PC or hard drive, upload your files to an online storage site, such as box.net, or give up files and working on files on your PC altogether and ...
The Why: The reason why I was looking for online storage initially is mainly because I have had my computer crash on me before and all that Gateway customer service was able to do for me was to reformat my harddrive, which meant losing all of the ...
I choose box.net after looking at other similar online storage because it seemed their web site was simple and so it would probably be simple to use their online storage. I was right. Extremely user friendly is the word for using online storage at ...
High costs for a misleading service by byocean ,Jul 02 '08
At first, I signed up for the free storage space Box.net was offering. I thought it was a good way to try out the service and find out if I would want to continue using it in the future. When I went to upload my files, box.net wouldn't let me do so, saying that I had exceeded my maximum storage space. So I cancelled out and browsed their rates. Well they list that it would be $2/month for me to upgrade to the slightly bigger storage space. I thought that was a fair rate, but when I went to do so, they failed to mention that they would be charging me for one full year's service without a month to month option, and I wound up getting charged $24 for a service I would never use again. Considering how there are so many other file transfer/storage services out there, why use one that would be so purposely misleading?
Too expensive, not enough storage by mahalie ,Nov 14 '07
I cannot believe people think that $80/year for 5GB of storage is a good deal. Other than the ridiculous pricing I do think their interface and features are top notch. It's just not a very good deal. I want to backup all my data, this service would cost me a fortune.
Best option in online file storage by freewheelb ,Nov 05 '06
I found Box.net while I was comparing different online storage providers. Others I tried were xdrive and MediaMax. What really sold me on Box.net was the sleek interface and the ability to add subusers. Oh, and the $4.99/mo for 5GB!
It's such an easy process to upload/download single files or entire folders in one shot.
The customer service is excellent and really sets them apart from any other online storage company. They actually answer your calls and if you send an email they write you back VERY quickly. Love it!
I've never had a problem with Box.net and would recommend their service to anybody! Even if you're just backing up photos. I've had DVD's mysteriously partially erase and I've had several hard-drives fail. Box.net is the most reliable way to back up your data.
what's the point of 1G of "free" space when each file is limited to 10M? WOW, I can upload photos - I have flickr for that. Hey, you can backup your data on it! Really?
NO.
cause of the 10M limit per file, which renders this a useless service for me.
I am annoyed because no where do they tell you of the 10M limit when you sign up, nor is it on the FAQ. You find out after all the registration hoohaa. Or you go read the comparison between the Paid and free version.
wish they would say Free with 10mb limit would have saved me the time registering by misterjoza ,May 20 '06
Gives you 1gb free. But beware if you have files that are biger than 10mb the free gets lost and you are asked for some cash. However good for storing photos and plenty space for free.
100% Satisfied. Current User. by tinlash ,Jul 11 '05
I used box.net to back up key documents when I knew my laptop was about to die. I got 5GB of storage for 9 bucks a month. I initially had some problems trying to upload my files, but the tech support guys at box.net helped me fix everything. Tech support replied to my emails within 15 minutes and were extremely helpful. I was able to back up my documents online, knowing that they were safe. I then got my laptop fixed (the hard drive had to be replaced) and I transfered my files back to my laptop. I highly recommend them.
I have been using box.net for months now and it is definitely a worthwhile service. Its good for backing all my work up just in case, and also is a good way to send large project files to my teachers without clogging up e-mail. I'd recommend it especially to students with laptops.
Best online file storage and photo sharing available. by roadmtb ,May 11 '05
This is by far the best, cheapest, simplest online storage available. I have used XDrive and Streamload but they are overly complicated, expensive, and try to sell you on upgrades. Box is cheap, simple, great customer service and even works on my blackberry! I have shared photo albums, sold items using my published photos from Box, downloaded and uploaded work files with extreme ease. A great deal!
Great experience with Box.net, only minor problems by iheartashlee ,Apr 07 '05
Most helpful customer service representative I have ever dealt with, I told him I'd recommend the service to everyone I could as thanks. It's cheap and easy to use, even for someone as technologically clueless as me, and when I did have a question I got a response literally within 10 minutes. Shop around, but you'll find that http://www.box.net is the best value. Still, I did have a couple of problems with the site initially (hence the customer service) that are worth noting, but I think those bugs are worked out since I don't get errors anymore.
Great! Helpful service, and inexpensive by joatcomcast ,Mar 25 '05
I signed up for the service, was frustrated on how to use it, and so I canceled. Within an hour I got a phone call asking if they could assist. I wish I could remember the lad's name so you can give him the credit he deserves. Because of him, I retained my membership and have taken full advantage of my space! I'm looking forward to checking out the new features.
Cheap, easy to use, good service (1 gb storage) by mcgruffdog ,Mar 21 '05
This site is only 3 bucks a month or 25 for a year, which is the best I could find. Also, the layout is pretty simple and easy to use - there are a bunch of cool features as well, but they don't do that good a job of publicizing them - I had to search through the help page to figure some of them out. I had a problem with uploading files through email, but I got a response back right away, which was cool. The only other problem I could see is if I ever have the need for more than 1 gigabyte, since I've used about 70% of my space so far. Anyway, if you need some storage cheap and easy, definitely check this out. (UPDATE - they now offer plans up to 5 Gigabytes - I've upgraded mine to 2 gigs and I'm still enjoying the service)
