I received my order 21 days after placing the order! Other than the order confirmation phone call and e-mail, I heard nothing from Butterfly Photo regarding the status of my order. Only after calling them numerous times, did I find out that they were on backorder, but that they had already charged my credit card. It wasn't until the fifth or sixth call that I was given an option to cancel my order since they were unable to say when they would have the camera in stock. At no time during the three weeks did they post to the website any kind of indications that they were temporarily out of stock (which is why I didn't purchase the camera from the original retailer I was considering). On all times that I checked their website, they always showed the camera as being available. For two and a half weeks, there was no tracking information available and even after they sent me the tracking number, I could not use their site to track it (I ended up using FedEx's tracking tool). My order was placed on June 30th with 2nd day shipping. The camera was not shipped until I called on July 7th. I received the shipment on July 9th. Apparently, with WEB orders you still have to call before the sale is finalized and shipped. They need an opportunity to sell additional items. However no high pressure sales pitch. Read more

I assumed that when I placed the order online on a Monday, and paid extra for 2 day shipping, that I would surely have the camera before the weekend. Then I found out the following day that I had to call before they would complete my order. Still, the salesman told me I would have it by Thursday or Friday at the latest. I didn't receive it until the following Monday. Had I known it would take a week anyway, I would not have paid the extra amount to have it shipped 2nd day air. I would probably purchase from Butterfly Photo again, but this time I would be wise to their shipping procedures. Read more

When the commodity is the same then the name of the game is price. This company had the best price on this very popular camera. I did make a call the next day to make sure I was getting the silver bodied version of the camera, and not the black body version. The hold times were agonizingly long, first it was 20 minutes just to get through to the receptionist, then she transferd me to the Internet Sales Dept, and that took another 20 minutes, but the guy who answered the phone was very courteous and understanding. A few days later I got the camera, and I was very pleased to say the least. This was a brand new camera at a truly great price. Read more
