No problem IF you don't mind the heavy sales pitch AND you know what you want and aren't going to return it for any reason whatsoever. They insisted on phoning me for 'order confirmation' which actually meant 'try to sell him some additional stuff'. When I resisted, the order seemed to be put on perpetual hold. When I tired of this and told them to cancel the order, they deceptively responded by billing my credit card and completing the order. In other words, not terribly ethical but in the end I got what I wanted (late). They probably get their high ratings from those who don't mind these little sneakies.

The good: Fast shipping, arrived safely, and an excellent price with no tax and shipping charges!

The not so good: A pushy salesman called me and said that the battery I'd get with my camera would be "only good for 20 shots" - this is such nonsense - the OEM battery that came with my digital camera is good for 200+, so I didn't appreciate the salesman's BS. He pretty much called me a "loser" for not "taking advantage" of their "holiday offers". Also, if you specify a different shipping address from your billing address, they won't be able to confirm it - Butterfly should mention this on the order form, NOT wait til you receive the confirmation email. Finally, they changed my shipping address to my billing address (took 20 mins on phone for them to get to the right person), but they didn't change the city, so FedEx wouldn't deliver and I had to pick it up myself... luckily no big deal, but for some that could be awkward.

Overall: a satisfactory experience - a great deal and price hampered by some terrible customer service.

I ordered a Samsung Digimax V4 from Butterfly Photo. The next day, I received an email asking for confirmation of the shipping address, to which I promptly responded by leaving a message since nobody picked up. A couple of days later, I called to check if the item had been shipped. It had not!... After declining any other offer, they consented to shipping the camera. The original packaging was banged up, while the shipping package was fine. The camera seems OK, although I have not tested it thoroughly. Still, this experience does not trigger a warm and fuzzy feeling.

Don't buy from them. It was a horrible experience. I ordered a Sony Mini DV and shipped it to a different address outside of NYC so it will be tax-exempted. I received emails saying that my credit card was not working because of shipping to different address, so i called up my card company, and fixed the problem, they said everything is fine, and the shipping address is on file. Then I talked a rep in Butterflyphoto, said that she is going to try...five minutes later, called me and said that the address is still not on my file, which the rep from my card company just repeated the address to me over the phone minutes ago. But Butterfly could ship it to my address, so they could add the taxes...It was terrible, Butterfly didn't try to fix the problem or anything upon my cancellation.

Wrote an email to butterfly photo to ask them to guarantee that the In Stock item is truly in stock and ready for immediate shipment upon receipt of order (ie once the credit card has been charged etc). Also asked them to guarantee that they would not try to entice me to buy any other thing outside of what I order for myself. Plus asked one more guarantee from them, where the item would really be shipped if they tell me it has been shipped. I asked them to make these guarantees in a email reply, and to quote my original email.

My email was sent to them on the 9th of November, 2004. Now it is 15th November. Absolutely no reply at all. I sent an email to DBuy.com on the 9th November, 2004...and the reply to my email from DBuy.com was 1 word ... and it simply said .. 'yes' (not 1 word more than that in DBuy.com's reply).

No way I'd buy anything from either of these places. It'd be extremely foolish to take a chance on either of these stores in my honest opinion. The negative reviews about them can be completely believed.

Butterfly photo customer service is what I expected...the sales person (Jermey) tried to sell me things I did not need. The delivery was terrific. The order accuracy needs a little help. I ordered the Samsung 4051D(black) they sent me the 4052(white). I called Butterfly and they refunded my the shipping costs ($99) for the mistake. It was a good thing my wife loved the TV even better than the black one.

Most of my consumer electronics shopping is done over the net. Butterfly Photo provided me with top notch service in terms of shipping timing, and responsiveness on the phone when I called to expedite the shipping. Pricing was very competitive. Product was packaged very well. My only reservation was the camera box was badly torn up, which made me think it may have been a return. But the contents inside were just fine.

After striking out twice with other on-line vendors, I'm glad I spent $20 more and went to Butterfly. Order taken and shipped in the same day. FedEx shipping arrived in 2 days (across country) for the price of ground. No hassles and most of all they delivered -- price and service.

I ordered a Fuji Finepix S500 on Saturday Jan 31, 2004 from this website. Upon completing the order, I was immediately sent a confirmation e-mail (NO mention of calling to confirm the order) with an order number and a note to please allow 24-72 hours to process the order. On Monday Feb 2nd I called to confirm the order myself and inform them that the shipping address was to my business. They responded this was no problem and said the camera would ship that day. I also got the usual sales pitch for accessories but nothing too pushy. Later Monday evening I received a call at home from Butterfly Photo stating that they needed to confirm the shipping address (?). Apparently the different address was somewhat of a problem.
After checking e-mails for the FedEx tracking number on Tuesday, and finding none, I called again. I mentioned that I had been called at home and the CS rep said they had no record or name of any CS rep calling. They assured me that the camera would be shipped later that day. Camera was finally shipped late Tuesday and slated for delivery Thursday.

Wow! First time I've ordered anything on-line and my experience was outstanding. Telephoned Butterfly.com before ordering to ask a question regarding rebates, customer service was knowledgeable, honest and courteous. Placed order on Sunday night, received email Monday morning with order confirmation number and a request to call Butterfly to verify information. Telephoned customer service, confirmed credit card info and was asked if I needed anything additional or extended warranty, I said, no, and there wasn't any further sales pressure. My order was shipped the next day, received email with tracking number and my order arrived on time two days later. I'm now enjoying & learning how to operate my new Sony DSC-F717 digital camera with plans to order accessories from Butterfly.com at a later date.

The product was as ordered, but they took an excessively long time to ship my order. The salesman guaranteed it would arrive by a certain time if I purchased 2 day air, which they charged me for, but failed to tell me it would take 4 days for the package to shop. Furthermore, they refused to refund the shipping charges when I complained I received the package a week late. Their customer service is not helpful and not understanding, their goal is to keep your money at all costs. Will never use them again with all the other online shops I can choose from.

I ordered an Panasonic PV GS15 through their website and I never got it for the next 20 days or so.

When I called them, they said that they are in touch with the manufacturer. They had also charged my credit card without shipping the product and when I mentioned about this to them, they said that they would send the product to me via overnight courier, free of charge.

Not getting the product in the next 2 days, called them back again, they told me that I can cancel the order and they would remit back the money into my card, and they did it promptly.

Overall, their sales support was ok I feel ,since they did not create any hassles in giving my money back.

I probably would not recommend this site to others(though my experience could be one in a thousand, yet..)

I recently purchased a Panasonic digital camcorder. I had a followup call the next day to ensure that I had in fact ordered the camera which I appreciated. The camera was shipped and received in 4 days (including the weekend). Ordering on the website was easy, the customer service was outstanding and I will definitely shop there again. Highly recommended!

I was very leery about the negative reviews, but cheapness won out, and I've got to say that my experience was perfect. They had a terrific price on the digital camera I wanted, I ordered it, next day I did get a phone call (am glad I knew it was coming). But no high pressure, Victor asked politely if I needed more memory, I said I had everything I needed, he responded, "Fine, then we'll just ship out what you ordered," and the package arrived two days later. No unhappy surprises at all, just a great camera at a great price. I work at home, so getting the phone call and signing for the package weren't a problem, but that might create hassles for others. Other minuscule quibble is that they didn't include a rebate form, but I had already located one to download from the manufacturer's website anyway, so that didn't really matter. All in all, they get a very hearty endorsement.

Prompt delivery (shipment within 24 hrs) and phone call from customer service for confirmation after order. Extremely satisfied. Thank you.
