I ordered two GPS units from Camera Addict. I was hesitant to order due to other reviews saying they call you to try and get you to buy accessories. I did get that phone call. When I didn't want them, the rep got irritated. He then asked me which language I wanted the GPS in, English or Japanese. I stated English and he said that would be an additional charge. The web site did not state anything about the language or cost. I immediately told him to cancel my order and that I wasn't playing their company games. He wouldn't give me his name, was rude, and hung up on me. I wasn't sure if my order would be cancelled, so I had to cancel my credit card right away in case they tried to charge me. I did get an e-mail that my order was cancelled. Believe me, for the few bucks you save, it isn't worth the hassle dealing with them.

On 4/5/08, I attempted to order a Canon camera 850IS which is currently being advertised on their website for 174.00. The next day, I received a phone call from CameraAddict verifying my order. They tried to sell me extra batteries, charger and warranty, which I declined. The employee then told me, the camera I was purchasing was European and not American. Therefore, I will not be receiving the proper accessories that comes with it. Also, the language settings for the camera would not be an English. He told me if I wanted to purchase the English model, I would have to pay $229.00. Needless to say, I lost my cool and went off. They are intentionally deceiving customers and committing fraud!!!!!!!!! I wrote to my home state Attorney Generals Office and filed a complaint. Customers need to file complaints to shut down this business.

Same terrible experience as every one else.
Seemingly good price, but had to call to "verify". Tried to sell me some overpriced battery... Said no, just send me the damn camera... Next day got email saying out of stock....What a pathetic bunch of losers!!! Canceled my order right away.

I had a very good experience ordering from Camera Addict. They offered the best price by far for the Canon I purchased at the time. Ordered the camera and a wide angle attachment lens on Sunday night. I did not realize at the time that an adaptor tube was required for the attachment lens. I received the e-mail confirmation that said to call to confirm the order. I have no problem with this as it assures the order is correct. I asked the sales person about the wide angle lens and he said that the adaptor was required. I had him add it to the order with the intent to be charged. I received the camera and the attachment lens on Wednesday. The adaptor was on the order but was not shipped. I called customer service to check on the adaptor. They said it was back ordered and would be shipped in a few days. I received it within a week as stated AT NO CHARGE! Thank you Camera Addict! The purchase exceeded my expectations.

Searching their site and ordering was simple enough. Good graphics and choices. But we received a call the next morning stating that the camera we ordered needed a high energy battery, that the battery included would take only 2 pictures before needing a recharge. When I responded by telling him to cancel the order, he began badgering me, questioning why I was being so nasty when he was only trying to help me. He wouldn't even let me answer why I would cancel the order.

I was subject to the usual "bait and switch" as is quite common with these "Brooklyn Bandits". I did purchase a Nikon D40 however when I received it I found that the start-up scenario when first using the camera appeared to have already been done, indicating to me that something was "fishy" about the camera. I attempted to register it on the Nikon website and the serial number showed up as a "grey market" product. Obviously these guys are walking that tightrope between legal and illegal...STAY AWAY!!!

Absolute crooks. Check the Better Business Bureau and you will NEVER buy from them. Nearly 400 claims in 1 year, WOW!!!!! Don't make the same mistake that I did. Low prices, but sold me a "special" SD card different from the one advertised on their website. CROOKS!!!!!! Please check the BBB first.

Annoying bait-and-switch company. They have low prices, but when you order they require that you call them to confirm the order. When you do so, they try to get you to add on accessories that are overpriced, thus making up the price difference on the original item. Should you refuse the accessories, they tell you the item is 'out-of-stock.' I waited three weeks before cancelling (they were prompt on THAT, at least!), and reordered from TigerDirect, which shipped immediately. The hassle you get from ordering from this company isn't worth the small savings. Go elsewhere!

Very unsatisfied with their customer service. I tried for six straight days to confirm a digital camera order without any response (many calls resulted in only long holds, disconnects and frustration). Also did not receive a satisfactory reply by e-mail. Finally got a human response after threatening to cancel.

Also I was charged 6% for insurance which was not shown on the on-line order. Even though the price was low I ended up paying as much as the listed price from other suppliers.

They advertised Sony Alpha DSLR-A300 with two lenses for $669, which is a terrific price. But I call to order, and (A) get the "battery only lasts 30 minutes" line, which is bull; and then (B) learn that this version is all in Japanese! $130 more to get it in English! I say "I decline," and he hangs up on me.

Baaaad experience, unlikely to return.

Do not use this so called company. My guess is they will go out of business soon with there poor customer service. My repeated attempts to call were always sent to a non-existent mailbox and I was cut off. When I finally got through and inquired about my order I was called a "dick" and hung up on. They will as the other review(s) state try to sell you other things that are unnecessary, but they can be very convincing. DO NOT USE YOUR CREDIT CARD!!!

camera addict used the bait and switch again... stay away from this company. They say call them to complete the order. they then try the hard up sale for overpriced add on's. Then when you don't buy the item you ordered is all of a sudden on back order...or even worse they wait a few days then send you a email saying you order that was supposed to be on it's way is now back ordered. I've wasted 4 days with this company for nothing please don't make the same mistake!!!!

Don't deal with this company. They offerred the cheapest price for a video camera (Panasonic SDR-H18). I purchased it. I was asked to call the next day via email, and once I did, I was told my order checked out and that they'll ship the camera soon.
The next day I received a second email that the camera is out of stock, and that they'll notify me once it's available. Eventhough their website still offerred it as available, for more than I purchased.
Now they're telling me, it'll take six weeks before it becomes avaialable.
They made me miss out on other deals out there.

They will send you an email requesting a verification call.
Reject their attempts at trying to sell you anything. You can get whatever accessory you need later. They will say you can't but I found out later that you can.
I wish I had read the reviews about this store before I ever ordered from them. They also required me to fax them a copy of a photo ID and the credit card I used otherwise they would not complete the order. They claimed it was for security reasons. I've never had to do this anywhere else and my credit is excellent.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE SHYSTERS. I ordered a camera that said it would 'ship on order.' After 2 days I called to check the status and they told me it was no longer in stock. While they were verifying my credit card information, they sold MY CAMERA to another customer. When I asked to cancel my order, the customer service rep said, "Good luck finding that camera elsewhere." I told him I'd take my chances, especially since they didn't have it in stock anyway. The customer service rep was not polite and abruptly ended the call. Their website is a lie, they do not have items in stock when they promise. DO NO BUY FROM THEM!

These people are as crooked as they come. I ordered two cameras, got a bait and switch phone call from the customer service department, and was given a new total for the cameras I ordered.

I never got a receipt for the new amount quoted over the phone, and the scum added another $200 above that amount onto my credit card.

NEVER buy from these people. I am going to handle the dispute through my credit card company.

Placed an order online for an HDD Camcorder that was shown as being in stock. Called the next day to verify order and shipping and was told it was not available but they would sell me last years model for $100 more. Beware of their "bait and switch" tactics, announcing a low price online and then trying to sell you something else when you call. It became glaringly obvious that this is their tactic when online orders require you to call to finalize the order. When I did not want to buy last years model at the extra expense, I was quickly told that they were cancelling my order and hung up on me promptly. Had this very same experience at another low cost online provider. Potential customers: beware of these "bait and switch" tactics.

These guys are thieves. They sell items for low prices then pressure you to add on extras. Example: They charged us about $75.00 for a battery charger that you can get on Amazon.com for only $12.00. I would NEVER buy from these scumbags again.

I bought a Sony LCD TV from Camera Addict.  They advertised a price of $1349.00.  By the time I got the set, the charges had been jacked up to $2629.99.  They refused to answer my request for an accounting of the charges.  BUYER BEWARE

I purchased a Nikon S60 for $267 on line.  I called to confirm my order and inquire about shipping the next day.  I was informed that I wasn't buying the US model and if I wanted the US model that it would cost $299.  No where on their website does it indicate that I was buying a European camera(?).  I asked about the difference and was told that it would not be in english, so I agreed to the $299 FOR THE US MODEL.  I Declined the battery and memory card that they were hustling......  Now, after reading their SCREW THE CUSTOMER, policy on returns, defectives, etc.,  I agree that they are crooks.  I called Nikon and their approved retailers have a minimum of 30 days to return or exchange a product.  These crooks offer NOTHING but penalties for all who buy from them, as well as NO answer after calling FOUR numbers for them.

Wish I had found this site before ordering from Camera Addict. Ordered on-line, no problem. Next day received an email telling me there was a problem verifying information, WRONG! and that I needed to call. This is just a ploy to try to get you to order accessories. Received the item in a timely manner, as well as an invoice for forty dollars more than advertised. This is when they fell off the face of the earth. If you get past the first three automated prompts, you are disconnected with a message that says something like " Unable to accept messages for mailbox 0" This happened no matter which dept. I tried. Finally gave up and called my credit card company who is very familiar with this seller and filed a dispute. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DON'T BOTHER.

Horrible company, after you place an order they send you an email telling you that you need to call them. when you call them they try to sell you a bunch of junk you dont need. I was trying to buy a panasonic plasma tv, well once i sent my order in i got that email. i called them and they try to sell me crap i dont need, then they try to tell me well you bought the over seas version and it would cost about $300 more to get the american version. they are rude and pushy, i will be filing with the BBB. i have also filed with the State of Texas Attorney Generals office.

Most annoying online buying experience ever. Camera Addict is a fraud which tries to bait and switch. After enticing customers with low prices, the company requires "verification" over the phone. After listening to glam rock while on hold for 15 minutes, this "verification" is a high pressure sales job for various accessories. When one does not choose to purchase from this lame upgrade attempt, the Camera Addict employee then states that one has purchased the Japanese version of the product (not stated anywhere on website or receipt) and that the English version will come with an extra battery and cost an additional $90. The sketchy operator uses lines like "What, you only want to shoot for 15 minutes at a time?" when pushing the battery and "You want the Japanese version with no warranty?" Totally sketchy slimeball salesmen at Camera Addict.

After having placed the order, you must call to "verify" it. I spent 15 minutes on hold, and then the representative came on to try and sell accessory after accessory. The last upsell was for only $50 you can get the user's manual in English. What!! Apparently the default is in Japanese and it does not state this on the website.

Searched the "lowest price" on a Garmin Zumo 550. Every authorized reseller had them for $635 or more. Camera Addict and Brodway Photo (web pages VERY similar) had them at $515. I ordered, had to call to confirm, declined all the other parts they offered (lots), and then the scam- Did I want this to work in the US? I had to buy the US maps for $119. I said the price and description (cut and paste from Garmin's page) said the US maps were loaded. Bottom line, Avoid Camera Addict. I cancelled my order and went to NavGuys. You can repeat the above conversation with Brodway photo as I tried them as well.

DISHONEST- BAIT and SWITCH. Free shipping does not include 9% insurance. When complained given other deal that inculded insurance. Lied about battary to up sell. Lied about ship date after order placed. Called after checking that battary deal was not true. Asked ordre status. Told it had shipped but tracking information was delayed one day. When tracking information finally came camera had not been shipped until 48 hours after call. Worst on-line mrecahnt I have dealt with. Avoid this merchant.

This was my first experience with Camera Addict, and it turned out to be my worst online shopping experience ever. I ordered a Camcorder and a couple accessories. They sent me an email stating that I had to call them to verify the order (something I've never had to do with any other online vendor). After a long hold time, a pushy fast-talking rep tried to sell me all sorts of accessories, extended warranties, etc. The experience turned me off enough that I decided to cancel the order. It took almost forty minutes to cancel the order (hold, transfer, hold, transfer, etc.), and they were quite rude about it. I'll definitely stay away from this vendor in the future.

This is the worst internet company to work with. They are cheats and will use force tactics to make money off of you. Everyprice.com is also a cheat website because they will not let the consumer write a review on their website. Has anyone tried this??? Bait and switch outfit. Won't respond to phone calls, they'll hang up on you. Won't respond to emails. They create an account for you even when you opt out and keep your credit card info. No visable address. Miserable service. Save your money.

I wanted to order a refurbished projector, they told me they couldn't get it & sold me a new one for the "same price" - well, it was $700 more expensive. Then I see on their website than it is $1000 less than what they charged me. I was on hold for over 15 minutes with customer service and they won't return my fax notices I've sent. I am thinking of filing a complaint with the BBB and the NY state attorney. DO NOT BUY FORM THESE PEOPLE.

On 5/18/08 I placed an order online for a Fuji FinePix f50fd. A couple of days later an email arrived requesting that I call the company. It turned out to some salesperson who tried to have me upgrade the battery. He told me that the battery that came with the camera was going to last only 5 minutes. I politely declined and he hung up on me. To date I have emailed and called to check on the status of my order and each time the answer was it was going to be 2 more weeks.
Don't buy from Camera Addict even if they are the only one that has what you want. It is not worth the aggravation.

I ordered an Olympus camera, after much research, they had a seemingly great price, and then received an e-mail a few days after placing the order asking me to call and "confirm" before they ship it to me. I never heard of such a thing, but thought it was for some security reason, and since I wanted my camera, I called the number in the e-mail. They had me call for a bait and switch....the person on the phone, who claimed to be a supervisor named Andy, tried to sell me a different model camera, then a more expensive package w/ the original camera, a rip-off battery, etc., it was unbelievable. He got very frustrated when I did not want to add on to my order. I said just send me the camera and he would not give it up, so I said to cancel the order and he hung up on ME!!! Do not waste your time with CameraAddict.

I ordered a tv only to be told that it would cost an extra $500 to get the U.S. version instead of the Japanese version (which did not come with a stand, remote, or a way to change the language). When I ordered the t.v. from them online it did not state anywhere that there were 2 different versions of the t.v. and also only listed one price for the t.v. I was only told this after the very rude salesman called me the next day. I wish I had read these comments before. I have also read other comments from this company that they have charged incorrect amounts to customer's credit cards. BUYER BEWARE!

From the date I placed the order, it took 6 days to talk with a human, then it took another 6 days to ship. Then I was charged $28.99 for handling and insurance! The whole experience sucked. I would have been better off buying locally. Never again. I can only imagine how difficult they would make returning it.

I went with Camera Addict because they had the lowest price. However, I also was pressured for the "extras". However, the biggest frustration was when the camera arrived with a refurbished lens(never mentioned in the sale) but when I returned it, was told they only had refurb lenses in the 18-55mm. After being told time and again that the item was on it's way and then never shipped, I demanded and received a 55-200mm NEW lens.
Ultimately, the price was lower for what I eventually received 2 weeks later but "you get what you pay for!!""

What a SCAM! I ordered a A700 Sony camera (body only) online, only to be told to call back to confirm an order. Called and was told that the item is actually Refurbished and out of stock, the new one is $200 more. Asked where does it says on the website, they played games blaming my Internet Explorer and Java not installed correctly as the reason why I could not see Product Condition link! As an IT person who troubleshoots these, it was obvious there is no such info on the site. The game goes: order on-line, told to call back, call back, they try to sell you more stuff, you decline, hang up, get an e-mail later item is not in stock. This company is a SCAM and so are WildDigital.com, PhotoDynasty.com, PrestigeCamera.com, TECHONdigital.com. These are all based in NY and do the same scam. STAY AWAY FROM THESE and report them if you delt with them.

BUYER BEWARE I have spent many tens of thousands of dollar online over the past several years and this is the worst company I've ever dealt with.They have no customer service. I finally filed a dispute with my credit card company. The product was a Toshiba 32 inch LCD model 32AV500U and has not worked since it arrived.I have been given the run around for over two weeks,and still have a 32in door-stop.I even purchased an extended warranty.

SCAM ALERT!!!...How many times do you have to hear it about Camera Addict...DO NOT BUY from these dishonest people. If you do not buy their suggested upgrades, then suddenly your item is mysteriously out of stock...even though the website claims it is available.

I tried purchasing from this vendor. I received an email to call them. I tried calling, but the number was busy most of the time. Eventually I got dial tone, but only reached a voicemail. Then I read epinions and immediately emailed them to cancel my order.

I can't believe that they get away with this.

I tried to purchase a Nikon D40X camera. I received emails asking me to call to confirm my order. They tried to sell me overpriced accessories. I refused. Weeks later I received another email asking me to call to confirm my order. I called. Again I refused the expensive accessories. They told me the only way to get the camera with buttons and a manual in English was to pay another $200 ($699 total). I demanded a camera in English at the price I agreed to on my purchase order. They said I had to pay $699 or they would cancel my order. I refused to pay $699 so they said they would cancel my order.

Terrible, terrible experience. Wanted to buy a Canon 40D had to call in to verify my order. Called in, sales representative was overly aggressive and trying to sell me packages that he demanded were MANDATORY AND a NECESSITY. I ended up canceling my processed order and wasted $60 on cancellation fees. These scam artists should be out of business. Flat out con artists. Do NOT ORDER FROM THEM, MAKE THEM RUN OUT OF BUSINESS!

Please be advised that I have registered a complaint with the NYC BBB regarding the "bait and switch" sales techniques used in my recent order of a Canon G9 camera from Camera Addict.com.

On calling their sales person (who did not give his name) at their email request, he advised me that the Canon G9 I had ordered was the "Japanese model" with all instructions in Japanese. I could have the "English model" for about $100.00 more. He also insisted that the battery supplied with the camera "is only good for about 20 minutes" (most likely false) and that I needed to order their better, "two hour battery."

My guess is that any Canon digital camera has language choice in the menu, as does my current Canon camera and that this was just an effort to not ship a camera at the advertised price. I choose not to deal with businesses that conduct their affairs in this manner and canceled the order.

BUYER BEWARE - NOT A REPUTABLE SELLER. I was price shopping for a canon 450D (rebel Xsi) digital camera. They had one of the better prices. I received a confirmation the next day and a request to call the toll free number to "verify" my order. Red flag went up immediately - only time this happens is for hard sell tactics and warranty bait and switch. The sales person was a fast talker and routinely tried to add additional items and package deals to my order by saying "OK we'll change your order for you" - never requested a change or additional items. He then proceeded to attempt to sell the USA version as the price listed was only for the international item. Sales guy was rude and obnoxious. I cancelled the order.

i would seriously encourage everyone with a very dissatisfied opinion to consider legal action and file a complaint with NY attorney general office. These people should not be in business, polluting commercial environment and ripping off honest customers. Very disappointing.

I ordered a Garmin 450 Zumo Motorcycle GPS System from this so-called business.

I received a confirmation email and telephone call. They wanted me to purchase a memory card which I refused. they said "ok" your order is being processed.

Not 2 minutes after hanging uo i received another email stating it would be 4-6 weeks for shipping...that the item as not currently available.

I have attempted repeatedly to contact these scam artists for an update on the shipment. Same response every time. "not available at this time. Shipping will be 4-6 weeks"

I cancelled my order today after sending another email...which I have NOT received a response.

Camera Addict is a scam operation. I orderd a Canon G9 from them--they had the lowest price--and they would NOT ship it to me for the price I paid. It was in "backorder" forever. Avoid like the plague. In fact, give them the plague. Cameraddict.com is a scam operation. Do not shop from these scammers.

Worst online purchase ever. Ordered camera(60.00 cheaper than at other vendors) that was advertised to be in stock. I later received an email to call them about expediting the order, at which time they tried to sell me a 100.00 spare battery. I was told the camera would ship in a few days. In a few days, I received an email that the camera was on a two week back order. Now, three weeks later and after 45 minutes of trying to speak to someone in customer service, I am told the camera will not ship for three more weeks. Note that I called first asking if this very camera was in stock (did not tell them I had ordered one), and was told it would ship in 3-5 days. I cancelled my order and would caution anyone who decides to shop on this site.

Camera Addict is not a reputable business as we have recently discovered. They have a great merchant rating on Yahoo! Shopping - how that happened is anyone's best guess. We did not investigate them fully prior to purchasing a camera and got suckered into their up-selling of seriously overpriced accessories. Please, if you have had a problem with them file a complaint with the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs www.nyc.gov/html/dca/home.html.

WARNING! This is a bait and switch scheme! The price advertised is not what you get! They will try to up-sell you for everything that should be included in the camera kit. I attempted to purchase a Nikon D60 and was called the following day by their representative, claiming to be confirming my order. He then proceeded to up-sell me on the battery, warrantee and shipping. This being my first camera purchase in many years I went along. By the time he was finished, I was now paying over $170.00 more than the ad price. The whole time he kept reiterrating that the price advertised was for a wholesale product intended for "other than the USA" market. So, I purchased the supposed extended warrantee, the upgraded battery and insurance for my purchase. When the camera kit arrived I had nothing more than what I could have purchased anywhere else, for less. In summation, my stupidity cost me a lot of money. Should have known better.

These people are insane. I did not read these reviews until right after I placed my order online. I have never dealt with a more deceitful company in all my life, and please trust me when I say that I am old enough to have been around the block a few times. STAY AWAY from these guys. FAR AWAY!

If you have read these reviews, and they sound bad to you, then you still cannot image just how bad is bad until you have dealt with this company.

I order a canon digital camera SD1000. The next day they called me to confirm my order, but they started to sell me all sort of gadgets. Foolishly I still ordered a memory card and a battery, my order was more than $300 nevertheless, the math did not add up, since the price advertised on the web was $142 for the camera.
Do not buy anything from CAMERA ADDICT they never return your phone calls or e-mails, they put you on hold until you finally get tired of waiting. By the way, I am still waiting for the camera!!!

These people are THIEVES they charged me for a gps update that they did not do.Then they tell me it was updated with late 08 maps BULL,garmin emailed me no such update.Emailed them warned them would stop payment and contact any agency that will listen.They agreed to refund my money will see.GONNA SCREW THEM ANYWAY STARTING HERE.Do not buy from these people,and if you have and got burned REPORT them stop payment whaT ever but dont let it slide.Hopefully some watchdog agency will investigate them.

I had an unpleasant experience dealing with a salesman from Camera Addict when ordering a 52 inch LCD and a 50 inch plasma TV. Stands which are supposed to be part of the accessories in the box are not included and add a significant price to the TV ($299) in addition to shipping. He tried to sell me on very expensive HDMI cables. My confidence wavered and I cancelled my order. I would rather spend more than deal with this company.

The ordering process was easy for a Canon A650 IS. Then came the email saying: "For verification purposes, please call our customer service department at 1-800-927-2354 Extension 262, in order for us to proceed and process your order."

When I called, I was told the camera I ordered was the Japanese version with Japanese text, and I would need the U.S. version. I was told the batteries were bad, and I should upgrade the battery. The person tried to sell me SD memory chip, battery charger, etc. The price for the basic camera jumped from $254 to $309, and I just said, "Cancel the order."

Even though the part number shown for the camera is the exact same number that Canon USA shows on its website, the telephone person will tell you it is a "Japanese version" and try to scare you into paying more for the exact same item. This is the most reprehensible, fraudulent operation I've run across in some time.
