This site has been going DOWNHILL for a couple of years now. Whereas they USED to have the best prices, now they count on you requesting a "price match" Otherwise, on most newer items they are high. But the worst thing about them is the shipping. I find you pre-order a item, and even past the release date these clowns don't have it "in stock" It can take a month for them to ship your item. Also, for whatever stupid reason, they continue to use Media Mail, the SLOWEST shipping method to ship single cd's and DVD's when first class would actually be cheaper for them, AND faster. If you want it fast, and you want it cheap, look elsewhere

Their web site is full of pop-ups, implying adware as well. Virtually impossible to navigate to "your account" page, then only to find that your order has been "completed". No tracking numbers or other delivery info on web site or by email.
Would we order from them again? Only if deepdiscount were half the price of A**z*n or another reputable e-tailer and we did not mind anticipating four or five weeks to get something.

Ordered 5 WII games online on March 1, 2009. Web Site said all where in stock which was one of the reasons I ordered from them, not just because of the prices. Seems that 3 of the 5 where not in stock. It seems very poor inventory control or maybe a not truthful web based ordering system to gain orders and backfill. Would recommend not using their web based system. Maybe if you ordered by phone you ould get thruthful information on stock, but maybe not.

The worst customer service I have ever received, by far. I was shipped the wrong item, hung up on by customer service representatives, and now have been told that I *probably* will be shipped the item in two weeks after it not being shipped for five weeks due to their mistake.

I ordered Beverly Hills Cop Special Edition DVD. When it arrived I played it and it had multiple skips and hangs. My wife had ordered the same DVD via Amazon and when it arrived we watched it without incident.
When we compared the DVD we got from DeepDiscount.com and the one from Amazon the differences were stark. First of all there was a professional looking color DVD label on the one we got from Amazon. The one that came from DeepDiscount.com looked like a disk that had been titled using something like LabelFlash or a similiar disk labeling technology.
I suspect the defective disk was likely a pirated copy despite the fact the case it came in seemed to look authentic.

Reason : Order still states Processing, I have sent 5 e-mails and called customer service. Since my phone call, I was assured a supervisor would be in contact with me, which never happened (7days ago). I was told there was a fire in the warehouse... but yet the item I ordered is still openly listed for sale on the website and my order status has remained unchanged (Processing) I can tell from my previous responses that not only was my request not properly researched (My item is shipping media mail? Its over 150lbs!), but they provided me with a time line in which I was asured my item would be shipped within 24-48 hours which has also not happened (Every e-mail response was identical). The company had a sale during this time 25% off and free shipping.
ORDER PLACED 11/16/08. Today is 1/13/09 and still no resolution, I have had communication with the CS manager I continue to wait for my order to be shipped. Multiple dates have been provided in which the item would ship by 12/26/08 then 1/10/09 since our contact following my complaint.The most horrible shopping experience I have EVER had.This issue remains unresolved.....

They sent an email claiming the game was shipped 12/11. Today is the 27th and it still has not arrived. This was the only present my granadson wanted for Christmas. I was told via email that they would not do anything until 12/31. I phoned customer service and was told again they were unwilling to take any measures until 12/31. I asked to speak to a supervisor and after 27 minutes of being on hold, I hung up and called back again. By that time, all I want is a refund to my credit card. They report it will be refunded, but at this point who knows? In my opinion, this company should not be allowed to sell on the internet. I have seen too many complaints about delivery problems which makes me wonder if they are even attempting to send the items. Even snail mail does not take 16 days!!

I have ordered two different books from DeepDiscount.com on two different occasions. One of them was a pre-release book. I have the customer service to be very good, but I do not care for the website. Tracking of books via a link to UPS or USPS was not provided. The customer service department does provide good information when requested via email, but it would make more sense to have as much self-service available as possible. I also found it awkward to cancel an order. Instead of cancelling an order from the order review screen, you must make note of your order number, then make a special email request. This should not be that difficult!
The prices have always been very good, so I still recommend you visit the site when comparing prices.

I have no idea why there are so many negative reviews about this company. I have been shopping at their previous sites (DeepDiscountDVD & DeepDiscountCD) for about 5 years and have probably placed about a dozen orders and have never experienced any problems with shipping times or quality of merchandise. One time I received a damaged DVD and I sent the item back and received a prompt replacement.
As for their prices, while they are not the cheapest on every item, they routinely beat Best Buy, Circuit City and Amazon.com. They used to run an additional 20% off sale two times a year which would just blow away the competition. I won't buy a CD or DVD anywhere else without checking out DeepDiscounts prices before I buy.

This company is horrible! Never use deepdiscount.com I placed an order for a 2009 Thomas Kinkade calendar on January 15, 2008 because they said they were IN STOCK and they had the lowest price. A week later on January 22 I get an e-mail saying that they are back ordered and really out of stock! I gave them ANOTHER week for finally calling today (January 29) to cancel the order so I can buy from somewhere else. I was on hold for about 20 minutes! They came on the line and cancelled the order for me. They were very nice, but the fact remains, that the service was poor because of the hold time. SO, in summary, they lie about the availability of the product and then they have horrible customer service because they leave you on hold indefinitely!! AVOID DEEPDISCOUNT.COM ... I ordered a video game for my daughter and received a shipping confirmation email on 11/24/07. I have not received the game and have sent them several emails and have not received any response.
Yesterday, on 12/21 I noticed that they refunded the entire amount to my credit card on 12/6 but did not bother to tell me the order had been cancelled. If they had just told me I would have time to order this game from somewhere else because you cannot buy this game in stores anymore.
They have a wide selection especially with the classics. My items always arrive in good condition and safely. Wouldnt ask for anything more from them. Good Job!

I was pricematching with amazon and deepdiscount was cheaper so I figured I would give them a try. I recieved my dvd (St. Elmo's Fire - great movie) in a week. Not bad for free shipping. I would order from them again.
I placed an order for a book called 10,000 Drinks. $14,96 free shipping. The best price. I double checked and their website indicated that the item was IN STOCK. Well, 2 minutes later I received an e-mail with my confirmation number. But it was written, out of stock and that I wouldl be charged only when the item ship. DeepDiscount does that all the time! And get this. You have to fill out a form to cancel your order! And it is well-hidden that form. No, the price is great, but never again. Pay extra and get better service.
My grandson and I first went to shop at their store in Naperville, IL. Their selection was pretty good. But I went online and it got even better. Not bad for shopping online especially with their free shipping.
The deep discount i fine with it's selection and a little overpriced. However, their customer service has to be the worse i've ever dealt with. I accidentally ordered something while trying to figure out the shipping cost. And immediately sent them an e-mail to cancel it. I also called and left a message. They told me they would call me as soon as a representative was free. The next morning i wake up at 6 to try and catch them before they shipped my order. I get the same "all our representatives are busy now" message. I get and e-mail telling me my order has already shipped. I then check the return policy on their site and find out they refund everything but the shipping cost. The worst thing is that shipping cost me $40 i won't be getting back. Also they charged tax for the state of California even though they are located in Illinois. This was my fault for accidentally ordering, but i feel i could have had it corrected if they checked their e-mail a little more often or answered their phone calls.

I requested a price match after I ordered but before I was billed, since they don't make cancelling an order easy. I've received my DVD (that arrived on time, no problems there) and have been going back and forth with their customer service for TWO WEEKS now.
It's very strange. I make a few points and they pick one to respond to, and the response is robotic and hasn't usually applied. I'm so fed up with them. I finally asked that my e-mail be forwarded on to a higher-up, or at least to someone who can read.
Unbelievable and ridiculous. Their e-mails end with, "We appreciate your business." Yeah, right.

I ordered a DVD last night that their website said was in-stock, but then 10 minutes later, I found out I needed to cancel it. I emailed customer service right away, and then again 18 hours later. They replied to tell me that, not only was my item backordered, but they would not cancel my order! Despite all this, I found out from my credit card company that they decided to charge my credit card now anyway.
Their "In Stock" status for each DVD is unreliable and for all we know, ALL of their product is backordered. The savings is not worth the trouble. Unless they agree to refund the charge within the next couple days, I will file a fraud charge with my credit card company based on misrepresentation of the status of the product and not shipping within the agreed ship date - "in stock" means within a couple days, NOT within 3-4 weeks (my cc company has already confirmed that they will reverse the charge in this situation).
I placed my order with Deep Discount before reading the reviews and was really apprehensive about ever seeing my game. As it turns out they shipped quickly, the communication was good, tracking was easy to find, the game was new and in original packaging and works great. No shipping was charged, and the game was half the price of other on-line stores. I have to say, I was surprised and pleased. This was a good transaction.

I found the item online, it was said to be in stock, and I ordered it with plenty of time for Christmas. However, a few days later I was sent a notice that the item was "suddenly backordered." I sent an e-mail to cancel the order, but the reply seemed automatic and said I couldn't cancel an order of an in-stock item! I sent at least three more e-mails to ask why I couldn't cancel my order, but all I got was automated responses, including one that said the order had been sent. The item has not arrived yet (12/30), and obviously it was not in time for Christmas. Now I have to send it back and incur shipping charges. There was no phone number and no way to rectify this. Very frustrating. I could never reach a real customer service representative, there was no way to call, and now I'm stuck with an item I no longer need.

I received my Alias Fourth Season in perfect timing! As I was watching it the third disc started skipping and could not continue. They sent me a label to return the item. I didnt have to pay anything for return postage. Which was nice especially on a tight budget.
First time I used this site, I was sent the wrong dvd.
Second time, my order was duplicated and thus double billed. When I wrote to customer service two hours after placing order, the customer service email was blocked. By the time I got through to them, they wouldn't cancel the duplicate order and said I would have to process the duplicate order as a return for refund.
Twice used, problems both times. I'm through with Deep Discount

After I ordered, I was told the item I ordered was "backordered." I tried to cancel since I needed to arrive by Christmas and I found the product at another store. When I tried to cancel one day later, they said it had already shipped. Email customer service was unacceptable. Phone customer service was better, but still poor. I asked for a return label but never received. With all the stress of Christmas shopping, I ran out of steam and did not end up returning the product. I love this place, however, if they are out of stock, they do not inform you of expected re-stocking. When you pay for express shipping, any back ordered items are not included, and you end up waiting longer for them to arrive. Their shipping times are EXTREMELY poor. I have ordered many items from DeepDiscount.com and most of them are completed satisfactorily.But I have chosen to rate by one of the worst.Because this item was typically listed in stock, but was Out of stock after I ordered it.There was significant delay in shipment.And then the book never arrived at all. And their customer service is: Wait more for it to show up. And it is close to Christmas now.And their email says sometimes it takes 15 days to arrive,but they ask me to wait 17 days. I did last minute shopping for a DVD and 3 CD's. I purchased expedited shipping so I could get what I ordered before x-mas. The website stated that everything was in stock, then I received a e-mail after purchase stating that the CD's were out of stock. Because of this, I was unable to send my x-mas gifts out on time. There was no communication regarding the difficulties from deep discount but I think that they credited my account 10 dollars for the delay. Item was out of stock, but I expected an estimated ship date in my order confirmation. When I did not(This is a Christmas gift), I sent an e-mail inquiry. The response was basically that they had no idea, but not to worry - I wouldn't be billed until it shipped. I found that reply unacceptable. I decided to wait a week before cancelling the order and buying it from another source. Then it just showed up in the mail. DeepDiscount generally has the lowest prices, albeit some obscure titles/Artists are not offered. When they have sales, prices are often unbeatable. Should 'free shipping' be selected, delivery is usually within 7 to 10 days, i.e., acceptable & as expected. They also provide e-mail order & ship acknowledgements. (Subsequent backorder statuses are e-mailed, too.) Any out-of-stock items are clearly noted once the item is in your cart, but rarely does DeepDiscount fail to deliver. I purchased a DVD online and my credit card was charged on December 2, 2008. On, or about, December 8, I attempted to log onto my account to track order. Website would not recognize my account!!! Called the help line and after interminable automated voices, finally contacted a representative. This representative did find my order, indicated the unit was mailed on December 2 and should arrive no later than December 12. The representative had no information concerning my account failure.
When I attempted to receive my Password through the login mechanism at DeepDiscount, I received a reply there is no such E-mail address on file with them. If this is so, how did this survey organization receive my E-mail address?

When I placed order for two items, one was listed as "in stock" it was a birthday present and i requested express shipment. When order was confirmed by email I was advised BOTH items were back ordered. Therefore express shipping was no longer applicable or helpful. I sent several emails regarding the problem of "in stock" vs "back ordered" and to cancel express shipping. Neither was answered properly NOR have I been able to CANCEL express shipping order on 2nd Item ( CD). There is NO indication when CD will be available to be shipped and the birthday has passed so it doesn't matter when I receive it.
There is NO PHONE number to call to speak with a person and the email responses do not address entire request. NOR has my last email regarding cancellation of express shipping been answered in any manner.

Answer to 7 is 'maybe' as it depends on the quality of the books when they finally arrive. "In stock" items at time of order, turned into 'backorders' when the order was being processed. Email enquiries received 'script' answers that did not answer my question, and subsequent 'freeform' answers were incomprehensible (I have received more clarity from Indian service centres!) In frustration, I followed up with a long-distance phone call from Australia pand after a long wait in the queue, was able to obtain understandable answers. I'm now waiting for my goods to turn up - in 3 separate parcels instead of the one 'in stock' order. An expanded explanation of the process of order fulfillment and overseas shipment in the FAQs would have helped to manage customer expectations. Read more

I love Deep Discount. I would say that I make about 95% of my DVD and CD purchases at Deep Discount because it is almost always the best deal. All of the products are cheaper at Deep discount than at Best Buy/FYE/Amazon/etc. otherwise, but then you don't have to pay any shipping and handling, which is awesome. I have had a good experience also in terms of receiving my items in good condition, which is much more than I can say for other vendors, such as Best Buy. I ordered four DVDs on Monday, Sept. 28 and paid the extra $6.95 for priority shipping. The website says that orders ship out within 2 days. When I had not heard anything by Wednesday I called customer service who said the order would ship in 24 hours and they would refund my shipping. 24 hours later on Thursday and still no shipping confirmation, I called again and got the "it will ship within the next 24 hours again". On Friday after hearing nothing my wife called yet again and they said that it would not ship until Monday so my wife requested to cancel the order. They told her they could not cancel it until it shipped and that we will need to send the movies back when they get here. Later on Friday, I went ahead and reordered the movies through a trusted ebay seller and paid $5 more in the end. Deep Discount's order arrived on Tuesday and instead of having a priority mail sticker on it, it had a UPS Mail Innovations and Media Mail sticker. I promptly printed the return label and mailed it back. After the lousy service and all the lying from Deep Discount, I don't want anything they have to sell. What is sad is that on the same day their package arrived, so did the one from Ebay. A 3 business day turnaround or 10 business day turnaround? I will steer clear of Deep Discount in the future. DeepDiscount.com has a serious problem with their order fulfillment. They cannot (for some unknown reason) properly ship to a business. For whatever reason they refuse to place the company name on the label. They then try to blam the customer for this problem. I have pointed this problem out to them on numerous occasions, but yet they refuse to acknowledge or address the problem. My experience has been that these movies are also hard to find, or are too expensive to purchase at local stores such as Movie Traders, etc. I like Deep Discount because they not only usually have these older movies, but sell them at a reasonable price.
