I just bought a talking French, English and Arabic dictionary which was pretty great in itself but they threw in a free multilanguage translator as a bonus. I’d say that was pretty nice of them. It adds up to a huge amount of resources for not a lot of money. The service was great too and it was delivered on time. What more could you ask?

Beware of purchasing from Ectaco!!!  I wish I would have read these reveiws before puschasing a Latin-English Talking Dictionary for my daughter as a gift!  The item was not as described and so I tried to return it for a refund.  They have a return policy...but you must call and get an RMA number and you must call within 7 days of placing your order!  Their customer service was rude and they passed my call around the office and parked me on hold.  There appeared not to be a person in a position of authority in the office on the day of my call.  I was told, repeatedly, to leave a message and the manager would return my call in the next week.  My recommendation....make your purchase elsewhere, or from a place like Amazon which cares about its customers despite its size!

They were great to deal with. I reached a man named Jerry (after contacting them online) and by telephone he answered all my questions accurately and got my order out the same day. And it was just what they said it was.

I ordered the Franklin Homework Wiz HW-1216 Dictionary 2 weeks before Christmas. The website offered it for $18 with free shipping. After I placed the order, I received a confirmation e-mail and then ... nothing. I finally contacted them on January 4th to find out what happened to my order. Supposedly they had tried to contact me that the item was out of stock (it still comes up and you can still place an order for it as I am writing when you go to their website) and that they had to cancel the order since I did not respond. This is utter nonsense, they had the correct e-mail address, and they did NOT e-mail to me. My impression is that they could not make money on this order and decided to cancel it. Their customer service rep has quite an attitude as well, definitely a store I won't deal with again.

It's a long story of a lot of trouble.
First of all the translator which I ordered was out of stock so I'd to chose an other one which was more expensive.
Then they didn't accepted my German credit card because I wanted to ship to Ireland.
The shipping took ages and after the translator arrives I got an invoice from FedEX for Import Duty. I ordered in the UK shop, the invoice from Ectaco is in UK Pound and there is no information at all on their Web page that the products will be shipped from US and that you have to pay additional import duty.

This is really quite a good company. Everything they promised, they delivered on – including a free extra dictionary. The free shipping is pretty handy too. No problems, no complaints. Just a good experience and a really wide choice.
