Unbelievable ~ Ordered a tennis racquet stringer and some strings. After two weeks they emailed me that the stringer was no longer available. After another two weeks dealing with customer service they finally agreed to get the newer model from the manufacturer. It was another two weeks before they removed the discontinued item from their web page.
Yesterday I called to find out where my strings were. I was informed that they were no longer available and was asked "do you want me to release the hold on your credit card?" Today I received an email offering me 10% my next purchase even though my original purchase was made with a 15% off coupon. I don't think I'll be using the 10% off coupon any time soon.
I ordered a five iron, the order sat in "being processed" for three business days before I contacted customer service and was told that the head was not in the warehouse and therefor the club could not be assembled. The head was in a store. They offered to send me the parts of the club for me to assemble. Not what I expected to hear. I asked how they can advertise this club as available? The online chat representative did not answer the question. This was my first contact with GolfSmith, and I will never use this store again.

My experience of shopping at GolfSmith could be described as nothing better than poor. The lack of attention to details by the customer service representatives caused me to finally receive my customized clubs 2 months after I had ordered them! I called the various representatives and each one gave me different answers. The supply chain management / operations of this store needs to be completely reworked since it is currently very inefficient. According to these posts, it seems that more than one person has received the same treatment as me, so future golf/tennis enthusiasts the only advice I have is to SHOP AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I was a bit shocked at how bad their customer service is. I ordered an email gift certificate for father's day that didn't show up. After waiting on hold for a while, they answered and fairly rudely said it takes 24 hours (which it had already been). They said, "don't worry, it will process tonight at 8pm Central Time." Are you sure I asked? Absolutely, they replied. After 48 hours it still hasn't processed and calls to their customer service line ring and then hang up... I've tried on both my land line and cell phone. These people have truly lost it.
I will never be using this service again. I ordered a $300 golf gps over a month ago. It has still not arrived. Golf Smith refuses to assist in this situation. They say that it out of there hands. Now I have paid the money. They have the money. I do not have the product. I have no idea where it is. The address I gave them was Ligitamate. I will not be able to give the gps as a gift as it is not here. I have no idea if it will ever show up. I was left with no choice but to buy another one from a far more reliable store. I will never use Golf Smith again. I will be advising all my friends of this situation as well. I can't believe they would send a product with no tracking. I had no idea that the free shipping promotion would mean that I never recieve my purchase.

Golfsmith is in the top 10 WORST websites I have ordered from, and I order from all sorts of website everyday for my job.
I placed an order on Oct 23, 2008 and received an email that the item I ordered it was backordered until Nov 5, 2008. No big deal, right? WRONG. They said they would email me when it had shipped. So December comes around and I realize I have not received a shipping notification. Turns out they are STILL processing my order. ITS BEEN OVER A MONTH AND A HALF SINCE I PLACED MY ORDER AND OVER A MONTH SINCE MY ITEM WAS RESTOCKED. I send them a very angry email and still no response. WTF.
One thing Ive learned though is: ALWAYS keep track of what you order online. Especially if you make multiple online purchases a month.
Ordering from golfsmith has been the single worst experience ever. It basically took them 2 weeks to process the order and it might have been longer if I didn't pay attention to the status. When Icalled to see what was the status they never put the order in it just sat there in there system for two weeks. Would not use golfsmith again and don't recommend them to anyone. The customer service people don't know what they are doing and neither do their supposed managers
