I have a compaint with Hotelclub for booking an apartment in New York. They charged me 200 USD calling it a deposit.

Whereas their booking conditions describe this amount as an advance to secure the booking, the remainder to be paid at the hotel.

Then in NY the hotel charged me a separate bill excl. the 200 USD.

After several mails avoiding the matter, Hotelclub now calls these costs not a deposit nor an advance but reservation costs.

This is a ridiculous amount but if it had been termed reservations costs it would have been clear.

I find that Hotelclub misleads customers and treats them badly.

Avoid this mob like the plague. I think the other comment was definately written by someone who works for them. They are very untrustworthy, unhelpful, will take your money with no refund possible and do not have any confirmed hotel bookings.

I have just escaped from the nightmare of a fake booking through hotel club. They "confirm" the reservation and debit the card immediately. Upon contacting the hotel, they have no knowledge of hotel club, no booking and no notification of a booking. When this is presented to hotel club, they respond saying they will confirm the booking immediately, but do not.

In desperation the user then books directly with the hotel, cancels the hotel club entry and pays a cancellation fee to hotel club (for a booking which was never made in the first place).

This is a clever scam and one best avoided.
