I purchased a warranty for an item purchased on Ebay.  The Ebay item was new, but did not have an existing manufacturers warranty.  That is why I purchased a Squaretrade warranty.  I paid for it, and my warranty status said approved.  I thought all was well.  I later found out that my warranty was no good, due to the product categorization on Ebay (should have been classified as used in order for Squaretrade to price the contract amount and term correctly).  Per the terms and conditions, Squaretrade can either choose to change the term of the contract, or refund your money.  Since they only cover used items for up to 2 years, most people would not know they are not covered for years 3+.  Their obligation is only to refund your money at this point.  My question is WHY DOESN'T SQUARETRADE AUDIT THESE WARRANTIES BEFORE PUTTING THEM IN AN APPROVED STATUS????  This is a horrible business practice.  ANYONE BUYING A SQUARETRADE WARRANTY FOR AN EBAY ITEM BETTER CHECK INTO THEIR COVERAGE BEFORE THE 60 DAY REFUND PERIOD IS UP.

Bought very reasonably priced warranty coverage for a new phone purchased via eBay, and glad I did, since Motorola phone went belly-up after 1 1/2 years.  I took the phone to our phone service provider who confirmed that the unit was not repairable, and I reported this to SquareTrade and asked for my shipping label to send it in for confirmation.  A bit of delay was the only complaint, as it took several days for a reply and then they wanted the EXACT error message before giving me a shipping label.  After giving the additional detail they promptly emailed a label and I shipped at no cost.  Since they couldn't repair it they promptly refunded in full to my PayPal (where I'd paid for it).  Had they been able to repair it, I believe they said they'd charge for shipping back, but I don't recall for certain at this point. 

I'm satisfied enough to warranty more products with them, as the price is good and even though they try hard to salvage the merchandise they did come through. 

They have followed thur with my warranty in a timely matter, no hassles. I would definitely use Square Trade again!

Will not do business with again. Samsung slider phone lasted about 3 months of use. since the slider came apart, they automatically say it is due to improper use and will not be covered even though there is no physical damage to the phone. what a waste of time and money. they claim they will refund my $20.00 but I will not hold my breath. First time I used SquareTrade and it will be the last. Live and Learn.

I have purchased several items on eBay recently and shortly thereafter received emails from the seller advising me that I had better get a warranty from SquareTrade to protect my purchase. These emails were signed by the seller, had the seller's eBay name in the return address, and were written as though the seller was recommending I pay SquareTrade for a warranty or my purchase was at risk.

This was especially annoying since some of the items were listed as including a warranty with the purchase.

After a little digging, and some correspondence with the sellers in each case, I found out the the seller DID NOT send these emails, and had no knowledge of them. These were emails sent by SquareTrade spoofing the seller's email address. THAT IS FRAUD. My purchases came with warranties from the seller and the recommendation that I must buy additional protection was untrue and a lie perpetrated by SquareTrade.

SOOOOO.. if *that* is how SquareTrade operates, you can draw your own conclusions as to what their warranties are worth.

I have reported them the the California State Attorney General for deliberate consumer fraud.

Friendly customer service and very efficient in processing my claim. I was able to to return the merchandise and receive a reimbursement in no time at all. I would highly recommend this warranty service!

lovely... I had my warrantied camera die on me last month, about 3 months before my squaretrade warranty expired.  I was expecting the worst and to be given a total run around, but instead I got really great service, my claim was handled really fast, and the lady on the phone that I spoke to was not like other customer support I've encountered elsewhere - she really knew what she was talking about, and didn't try to trick me into getting my claim denied.

I purchased an electronic product (refurbished) on line from eCost.com.  After 6 months the unti failed to operate any longer.  Thankfully eCost had offered a warranty for this product and I bought if for 22.00 dollars.  When I filed my claim, I honestly expected some difficulty with it.  (From dealing with other warranty companies that had always through obsticales in the way).  Square Trade was quite different, always polite, answered all my questions, and most importantly kept me informed every step of the way.

In the future, I when I make an online purchase, I will always ask for a warranty, then I will ask WHI will the warranty compnay be.  If there is a choice, I will choose Square Trade.

This has been the quickest and most efficient warranty or insurance claim I have ever had! When they say hassle free, they mean it. My experience with square trade has been a very good one. I had an issue with my item, the square trade warranty covered it and I got money back. The process was quick and worry free. I would recommed using square trade for all purchases on ebay.

The attention to my claim was quick and just as I had hoped. I was actually hoping that the handheld could have been repaired, but it was great having the refund applied on my pay pal account. Thank You

This is a great service that I'd not only recommend to others, but I have used several times myself. I end up with peace of mind knowing that if the item fails, my purchase is covered. I did have a problem with a phone I bought, it was quick and painless to put in a claim. Turnaround was fast and I had the money back within days. I have bought some higher ticket items and I am hoping there are no problems. In the event there are though, I will know that my purchase is protected with an excellent warranty. I will always recommend SquareTrade Inc because they in order to make a claim, it is very easy and hassle free. Also, the speed of processing of the claim along with the customer service is awesome. I will be defiantly taking SquareTrade Warranty for my next purchase.
