Poor communication regarding in-stock availability of items

The only positive thing I can say about this merchant is that the phone support is good. Other than that, this store lied to me that an item was in stock and then never met the shipping date after several promises. I will never order from them again. If the item is not in stock, why offer it for sale?

A nightmare- shipping charges are exorbitant and canceling an order is impossible

This is the worst on-line experience I have ever had. Yesterday I ordered a set of lounge chairs to add to the set I had order from Target in the summer of 2004. When I received the order confirmation, a few minutes after I ordered, I noticed the shipping charge of $89.00. The previous summer the shipping charge was $17.90. I immediately tried to cancel the order but the process was impossible-the e-mail answer to my question "is this a mistake?" was answered the following day and I was given a phone number to call. I did speak with someone from customer service today but less than 24 hours later it was too late to stop the order, which on the order information on the site said the estimated arrival was not for two weeks. Bait and switch, return policy complex to make you give up

I ordered an iPod mini and charger in January. I requested the items be SENT TOGETHER. In late February, I received the charger. Two months later in May, I receive a curt and cryptic e-mail cancelling my iPod order due to "supplier difficulties". So now I have a charger and no iPod (or apology for that matter). Online customer service was unresponsive. Finally called them by phone and received complex instruction on how to return the item to a Target store. The assumption here is that you have nothing better to do with your time (that's why you shop online, to waste time, right?)

I used to be a dedicated Target shopper. Unfortunately the level of customer service I have received has led me to conduct my business elsewhere. Responses to inquiries have been slow or non-existent. What is really surprising is when I spoke with some people in management, they acted as if they really didn't want my business. I was shocked. Oh well!
You would think they would focus on providing better customer service in order to keep customers coming back. I guess I am mistaken.

I ordered two presents for my niece on 10/22/08. Four weeks later, the first present was "out of stock". What's the point of online shopping if they don't know if it's in stock. The second present (Christmas gift) is now delayed until Feb 5th. Keep in mind, it's two weeks before Christmas and now I'm scrambling for a gift to order cross country.

Very nice website. Easy to order and the shipping is quick. The Shabby Chic line is very nice from Target (I normally order her expensive linens). I will definately purchase more Shabby Chic items from Target.

It's a Rip to Ship

Tried to order 6 of those stackable, folding lightweight mesh sweater dryers for 11.99 a piece. When I got to checkout the shipping charges were in excess of $55--that's OVER FIFTY-FIVE DOLLARS for SHIPPING! I quit that order in a hurry, and I hope it was a mistake. I've emailed them an inquiry but haven't heard anything yet...

I purchased a portable baby stroller from Target for a baby shower gift (my granddaughter was registered with Target for her baby shower). The stroller cost $49.95. I was charged $24.99 for shipping and handling. (I chose "standard shipping" -- no special "hurry up and get it there". It is supposed to be delivered in 2-3 days.
I consider this outrageous and will NEVER order anything to be delivered from there again. I, unfortunately, was not paying much attention to the shipping charges until I had placed to order. However, I had wanted her to have something that she really wanted and since she was register at Target, I decided to find something on her list to order. And since I live in Florida and she lives in Arizona, I thought shopping the Gift Registry was the right thing to do. Had I been paying more attention, I would have taken note of the brand name and shopped further online for a better deal. Live and learn.
To add insult to injury, Target does not offer a "message" to be added or "gift card" to be included with the delivery.

As I have to two small children at home, I do most of my shopping online. The two experiences I've had with Target have been late delivery and very poor quality linen, which was expensive. I would be very hesitant to order from them again!

Target.com works wonderfully. But keep in mind that some things that you order can not be returned to the store and must be sent back via mail.
