Didn't get what I paid for!!

My wife purchased a hitch cover from etrailer.com for my birthday and used the product description and pictures attached to make her decision. She is very thorough and pays close attention to what should have arrived after purchase. She went ahead and made the purchase and expected to get exactly what the website promised. When I received my gift she and I were surprised to see that there was no reciever plug in the box and the screws to hold the emblem to the plug were simply taped to the emblem cartridge in a rudimentary fashion. After researching all I could stand online I finally called the manufacturer of the product itself and ordered the part I am missing. I have spent AN ADDITION $15.00 because of etrailer.com shorting me hardware. I WILL NOT use this company/website again and WOULD NOT recommend it to anyone else.

Good website, great selection, lacks post-sale care

My experience has been less than satisfying. While their website was easy to use with a great selection, and their prices were OK -- it was their post sale support that I found lacking.
I received a shipment confirmation within hours, almost too fast since I had requested a couple of locks to be keyed alike. In response to that shipping e-mail, on 05/08/06 I questioned that and never got a response.
When my shipment arrived, it was incomplete -- lacking the two locks and another item. I e-mailed cs@etrailer.com on 05/13/06 and again got no response.
I finally got through their almost perpetually busy tollfree number and spoke with Danny. While an apology was made about the lack of responsiveness, I didn't get a warm fuzzy that they would jump through hoops to regain my satisfaction.
Proceed with caution.
UPDATE ON 05/20/06
They shipped the missing items and I received them yesterday.
Perhaps my experience was an anomaly, so I might try them again at some point.

Bought a hitch for our Honda Pilot. Very good selection on the website. Good emails keeping me posted about the order shipping etc. The hitch is a very high quality unit that installed very easily.

etrailer.com sells defective equipment and leaves their customers holding the bag

During spring 2007, I purchased a bike carrier and trailer hitch from etrailer .com. After only one weekend camping trip, the hitch bent to the point that the bike carrier was nearly dragging on the ground. When I contacted etrailer .com with news of their equipment's substandard performance, I was disappointed to discover that etrailer.com did not stand behind its equipment. etrailer.com invited me to return the defective equipment that I had purchased--but only at my own expense! In my opinion, that is hardly the position that a respectable company should adopt.
Worse yet, when I returned the hitch, etrailer.com took the liberty of deducting outbound shipping and a 20% restocking fee from their overall refund. Thus, I ended up netting $33.14 in return for a hitch that originally cost $159.95.
In conclusion, if you are looking for bike hitches or other auto accessories, I DO NOT recommend etrailer.com.
In my experience, etrailer.com sells defective equipment, and etrailer.com has little concern for the cost or inconvenience that it causes its customers.

I ordered a hitch for my 2008 Rav4 and everything was great until it arrived. I tried to install the 4 bolts to do the install and they didn't line up. I then took it to my local mechanic and with it on the lift it was obvious the hitch was bent. I asked if there was a way to get it to fit and a second mechanic suggested we use a 3 foot breaker bar. He pulled on the bar and another mechanic luckily got the bolts to fit. I paid them and I will be more careful purchasing a hitch from e-trailer

Horrible.
I ordered parts that were sent with no receipt or instructions. I was told by a nasty order taker, etrailer.com does not send receipts!!!
Etrailer said, "The manufacturer of the door assembly (Redneck) I ordered does not supply instructions." Since nobody at etrailer knows how the products they sell work, they could not help me.
I was told that Redneck would contact me within 24 hours. That was 336 hours ago (2 weeks).
I will never buy from them again.
My credit card was then charged three times for my one order. Once on the order day, then two times more several days later! $80 of parts at $240!!!!
Not only does this company have no clue how to use the products, they apparently have no idea how to process their orders.
I am disputing the extra orders and reporting them to the BBB.

Ordered item on December 27th. Confirmation of order recieved December 28th, did not ship until the 29th contrary to same day shipping posted on web site. Paid for priority shipping, item still not recieved January 11th. Customer service refuses to give me a tracking number and keep telling me wait until next week. Next week was here and gone and yet they still keep on saying wait. No pleased with the customer service and the false claims.

Outstanding performance on three separate orders. All items were in stock, shipped promptly and were well packaged to insure safe delivery. Shipping notifications were well managed along with tracking information. I called a customer service rep on one issue and found her to be quite knowledgeable and provided accurate advice. Etrailer.com is company full of scam artists. They con people into doing work for them, then won't pay. They are unreasonable and rude to deal with. Avoid them at all costs. You can get better quality trailer and hitch parts from other sources. They also highly retouch their images of parts, to make things look better than they really are.

Took a week to notify me that the item had been shipped. After notification that item had been shipped, it took three days for the carrier to acknowledge receipt of the item.
Though not considered the fault of the vendor, some slight filing/grinding was required to mount the hitch. Mounting hole did not align well. Ball carrier would not slide into receiver.

Didn't hear anything about the order for 1 1/2 weeks. When I called service rep. said everything was in stock and she didn't know why the order hadn't shipped. She flagged the order and it was shipped the next day. Great service after the nudge.
