My wife purchased a hitch cover from etrailer.com for my birthday and used the product description and pictures attached to make her decision.  She is very thorough and pays close attention to what should have arrived after purchase.  She went ahead and made the purchase and expected to get exactly what the website promised.  When I received my gift she and I were surprised to see that there was no reciever plug in the box and the screws to hold the emblem to the plug were simply taped to the emblem cartridge in a rudimentary fashion.  After researching all I could stand online I finally called the manufacturer of the product itself and ordered the part I am missing. I have spent AN ADDITION $15.00 because of etrailer.com shorting me hardware.  I WILL NOT use this company/website again and WOULD NOT recommend it to anyone else.

Bought a hitch for our Honda Pilot. Very good selection on the website. Good emails keeping me posted about the order shipping etc. The hitch is a very high quality unit that installed very easily.

My experience has been less than satisfying. While their website was easy to use with a great selection, and their prices were OK -- it was their post sale support that I found lacking.

I received a shipment confirmation within hours, almost too fast since I had requested a couple of locks to be keyed alike. In response to that shipping e-mail, on 05/08/06 I questioned that and never got a response.

When my shipment arrived, it was incomplete -- lacking the two locks and another item. I e-mailed cs@etrailer.com on 05/13/06 and again got no response.

I finally got through their almost perpetually busy tollfree number and spoke with Danny. While an apology was made about the lack of responsiveness, I didn't get a warm fuzzy that they would jump through hoops to regain my satisfaction.

Proceed with caution.

UPDATE ON 05/20/06
They shipped the missing items and I received them yesterday.

Perhaps my experience was an anomaly, so I might try them again at some point.

During spring 2007, I purchased a bike carrier and trailer hitch from etrailer .com. After only one weekend camping trip, the hitch bent to the point that the bike carrier was nearly dragging on the ground. When I contacted etrailer .com with news of their equipment's substandard performance, I was disappointed to discover that etrailer.com did not stand behind its equipment. etrailer.com invited me to return the defective equipment that I had purchased--but only at my own expense! In my opinion, that is hardly the position that a respectable company should adopt.

Worse yet, when I returned the hitch, etrailer.com took the liberty of deducting outbound shipping and a 20% restocking fee from their overall refund. Thus, I ended up netting $33.14 in return for a hitch that originally cost $159.95.

In conclusion, if you are looking for bike hitches or other auto accessories, I DO NOT recommend etrailer.com.

In my experience, etrailer.com sells defective equipment, and etrailer.com has little concern for the cost or inconvenience that it causes its customers.

this is a site that allows anyone to post a review, even if you have never purchased from the company. I wonder how many positive posts are from e-trailer? See ResellerRatings.com for reviews from actual customers.

  I ordered a hitch for my 2008 Rav4 and everything was great until it arrived. 
  I tried to install the 4 bolts to do the install and they didn't line up. I then took it to my local mechanic and with it on the lift it was obvious the hitch was bent. I asked if there was a way to get it to fit and a second mechanic suggested we use a 3 foot breaker bar. He pulled on the bar and another mechanic luckily got the bolts to fit. I paid them and I will be more careful purchasing a hitch from e-trailer

Fast shipment, and low cost for shipping. Very helpful advice too. This is a great company to do business with! I will use them exclusively for parts from now on...

Horrible.
I ordered parts that were sent with no receipt or instructions. I was told by a nasty order taker, etrailer.com does not send receipts!!!
Etrailer said, "The manufacturer of the door assembly (Redneck) I ordered does not supply instructions." Since nobody at etrailer knows how the products they sell work, they could not help me.
I was told that Redneck would contact me within 24 hours. That was 336 hours ago (2 weeks).
I will never buy from them again.
My credit card was then charged three times for my one order. Once on the order day, then two times more several days later! $80 of parts at $240!!!!
Not only does this company have no clue how to use the products, they apparently have no idea how to process their orders.
I am disputing the extra orders and reporting them to the BBB.

Like others I read a mix of reviews that made me slightly nervous about placing an order, but my credit card company has always been good so figured I would go for it.

The whole purchase was excellent, the website was a breeze to use, the email response was quick when things shipped and everything arrived as I ordered it, including the part I ordered wrong - I emailed them to let know I was very pleased with their service and mentioned I ordered a wrong part but would keep it as it wasn't too spendy, just the same a Return Authorization arrived so I could exchange the part. 

Would I order from them again?  Yes, without concern.

Etrailer.com is company full of scam artists. They con people into doing work for them, then won't pay. They are unreasonable and rude to deal with. Avoid them at all costs. You can get better quality trailer and hitch parts from other sources. They also highly retouch their images of parts, to make things look better than they really are.

We purchased pads for our horse trailer. They were not as advertised. The site advertised 9" wide pads with fiber backing. The actual pads ended up being 7" wide. The "fiber backing" ended up being thin cardboard paper and the stitching was crooked and out of square. The product was very poor and looked worse than homemade. We will see how the refund and return shipping paid process goes.
