Pros: Intelligent, sturdy, reliable, fun to watch Cons: Doesn't currently handle multi-session masters, expensive ink
What It Is The Bravo II is a robotic DVD burner and printer. Using the accompanying PC software, it burns data onto blank DVD-R and DVD-RW media and prints full-color high-resolution ink-jet images onto the disc label (provided that the blank ...
Pros: Clever robotics and a very nice printer makes CD/DVDs neat and professional. Cons: Buggy printer driver crashes Windows XP. No response from tech support about problem.
I have a Primera Bravo II CD/DVD duplicator. When it works, it works very good. The robotics work very well and the printing on the disk is very nice. One especially nice feature is queueing, which allows you to start lots of different jobs and have them ...
Pros: Nice print quality Cons: Crashes windows, fails to print, high ink costs, poor tech support if any.
When it works (20% of the time) it looks great. The rest of the time it crashes XP, fails to print, locks up mechanically, flashes lights in ways the tech people can't explain. The design is so poor that tech support recommends covering the unit with a towel to keep out light so the unit will function in a lit room!
They also suggest loosening the screws on the disk tray and wiping the transport belt as "fixes. The problem is heat, poor design and amazingly bad software.
Tech is unable to help. We've tried it on three different systems from a 1ghz P3 to a 2.4 ghz P4 and get the same results regardless.
Pros: Prints look great, automated printing/burning Cons: High ink cost
I have has two Bravo's, the original and the Bravo 2. Both have been rock solid execpt the burner in the original Bravo stopped working and had to replace it , but we must have burned thousands of DVD's with it so we got our money out of it. The Bravo 2 has been in use for a year now, well over 1,000 DVD'S burned, and no major problems. Don't care for the high ink cost but the product looks and works great. Not using Windows (problems with Windows? shocking!), using Powermac G4's and G5's. Mac software is great, stable and easy to use (of course, it's a Mac!)
Hint:
1. Let the machine run, don't open the cover and don't use the computer for anythine else while it working.
2. Burn everything 4x or under (more reliable burns)
I've not had the system crashes, but I have had the Bravo II reject CDs at a 40 to 50% rate. When it was working "well" it was rejecting 2 out of ten. A long dragged out session with Tech Support suggested a problem with the media (Maxell). Tech Support sent 5 Ritek discs. seemed to work OK. Bought Ritek discs -- same problem. One of the difficulties with Tech Support is that they prefer to be contacted through the help menu in the program on the grounds that it sends along a report. But that means a day's delay (and no weekend support) between question and answer. A pain
Excellent unit for burning and printing CDs & DVDs by bjtransam ,Oct 19 '07
Pros: Reliable, superb print quality, great time saver, easy to use software. Cons: None that I have seen, it does exactly what I need it to.
I purchased my Bravo II CD/DVD unit about 2 years ago and it has been a wonderful timesaver for me. I have run around 3,000 discs through it and I have only received 2 or 3 rejected discs in that time. I used both Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim discs, both of which I would recommend as well. The print quality from this unit is superb and makes my discs look much more professional than my old Neato stick on labels. I have run it on the same 3 GHz P4 1.5 GB Ram Dell Dimension the whole time and have not run into any PC issues like other reviewers have mentioned. The latest version of the recording software is very easy to use and has all the options I would expect from a standard Nero or Roxio application. I have recommended this system to several friends of mine and they have been very happy with their systems as well. If you need to do small batches of discs (25, 50, 100 at a time) and you have the budget to get this unit then I would definitely recommend it.
