Awful ink consumption!
At the risk of sounding redundant, I believe the essence of the Epson 820 can be summed up as follows:

Awful ink consumption!
Before purchasing the Epson 820 I was a satisfied Canon BJC-3000 customer....

Pros: Inexpensive; prints in color Cons: very slow; cartridges very expensive and don't last long
When my laser printer burned out, I dragged my son to the computer store to help me pick out a new one for my home. I was happy to see they were inexpensive. The Epson Stylus Photo 820 was priced at $l00 with a $50 rebate.
When I took it...

Pros: Cheap, good pictures, borderless printing Cons: Unable to print at all if one cartridge is empty.
My experience with the Epson Stylus 820 Photo has been mixed. On one hand the cost was fantastic and the pictures are about an 8.5 out of 10. On the other hand it has been a real pain to deal with mechanically.
THE COST

Pros: NOT MANY! When it works it's OK Cons: Never works
Never works
Ok, sometimes works but frustrating
I bought this printer hoping to find an economical printing solution, mostly for photos but also for other color printing. What I found was that I committed the worst sin - bought based on price. As a result of this experience I won't be buying another...

Pros: Beautiful prints, low initial cost Cons: Ink hog, occasional problem with ink clog, expensive cartridges
The 820 can produce stunning photographs. My friends are amazed what the printer can do and literally drop their jaws when I told them the printer costs $80. The print is very good at normal viewing distance and rival traditional print unless you...

Pros: affordable Cons: inkjet cartridges clog easily
I purchased this printer specifically to print digital pictures (I use a Panasonic KXP-6500 laser printer for text printing). Therefore I'll only comment on the photo printing. The good news is that the printer and maintenance costs are very low. I got...

Pros: Beautiful print-outs, close to laser-quality text with proper maintenance. Cons: Paper-handling--it has trouble with large volumes of sheets, and that can sometimes damage the printhead.
I've had my share of Epson printers, and I prefer them for my main use: printing photos. When I saw the opportunity to grab one of these babies from Epson's web site for $50, I jumped at the chance. I actually didn't open up the box and use the ...

Pros: Great deal for the price, pretty good photos Cons: Expensive ink, slow photo printing, requires Epson paper
I bought this printer at a ridiculously low price (under $100 plus a rebate)! And, it does pretty good photo printing. However, using any paper other than Epson is risky. Printer seems to bleed ink on other papers. And, the ink is so expensive, you...

Pros: Excellent photo quality, reasonably fast printer Cons: Noisy, ink user
By now you know all the facts about the printer so I won’t bore you with the details all over again. I’ll get cut to the chase with what’s good and what’s bad.
What’s good is that it does a great job printing photos. I tried an Epson C80...

Pros: Excellent print quality and color. Cheapest, good quality photo inkjet on the market. Cons: Could be quicker and ink could last a little longer
I've had my printer for just over a week now and have put over 30, 8 1/2 x 11, with over 50% coverage, high gloss photo pages, 10 gloss sticker pages and a bunch of regular 8 1/2 x 11 pages through it already. I've gone through one color cart and have...

Pros: GREAT print quality, waterproof prints! easy to use, small footprint Cons: Would not be good for production printing
I happened across a wonderful deal of a printer! My Epson 820! I was using another brand, and still have that brand, but the photo quality was just not what I was looking for.
One day while shopping at Micro Center, I saw a demo of this...

Pros: Super resolution and color on glossy paper. A breeze to set up. Price! Cons: Software not as intuitive as it could be.
With the proliferation of digital imagery in the past few years, I went looking for a printer capable of producing good quality results from digital photos. The Epson Stylus 820 does this in spades, at a reasonable price. Albeit, I was a little skeptical...

Pros: Great pictures Cons: Gulps expensive ink, slow
After moving from 35mm to digital photography, I bought the Epson 820 thinking it would be cheaper and handier than having digital photos printed commercially. I was shocked to see the visual representation of remaining ink drop by 25% after printing my...

Pros: beautiful photo quality prints of all sizes, and it's under $100 Cons: slow print speed, uses alot of ink
I bought this printer for only $80 and have been loving it ever since. The print speed is rather slow, but the quality makes it worth it. I can print perfectly borderless prints of all sizes, you just tell the printing application what size paper you're...

Pros: Amazing print quality Cons: Very costly ink cartridges, noisy when starting up, print heads clog all the time.
I got this printer 10/31/01 from CompUSA. Was really pleased with it, and it had good reviews, both online and from a friend.
When I got it home, I was amazed at the quality - it was superb. Unfortunately, that's about the only good thing...
