I have fount the Hewlett packard 7150 to be reliable and excellent at producing color photo prints. I've printed many brochures with the 7150, including high resolution photos, with ease.

Ink is always expensive, as with any printer. Therefore I would suggest buying a second printer(cheapest available) for printing all non photographic type pages. I picked up a basic printer for $25 to handle the non-crucial printing projects. Save the cartridges on the HP for high quality. Loading two printer programs is no problem and all you have to do is click on the printer you want to use at the time.

The HP printer has a separate tray for 4x6 print paper that slides forward to engage without removing your blank 8x10 sheets.

Onscreen guage to show ink levels is handy and warns when one of the cartridges is low.

Pros: Average priced for good quality.
Cons: Inks are pricey.

I bought my Hp photosmart 7150 in the late June 2003 to replace an Epson 740. This printer is quiet, fast, and has clear rich photo quality. We print lots of digital photos and make lots of colorful banners on this printer. I have been very happy with no problems or complaints.

Pros: Good quality printing for one sided needs.
Cons: Uses much ink for good quality printing, smears for all of my 2 sided printing.

I got this printer because of it's supposed two-sided printing capabilities. When I purchased it however, the part to be attached for ease of two sided printing wasn't available but I could come back at a future date for that. I bought it anyway knowing I could do two-sided printing the old fashioned way until I could go back and get it as promised. When I next went back, I could not find anyone who knew what I was talking about. Oh well. Meantime, I cannot get it to print on both sides in decent quality (which it does have) without causing smears on the edge of every page. I have even waited for 45 minutes between printing one side and the other, reduced quality to unacceptable levels for my project to lower ink saturation. What is the solution? This is on good quality paper of different types.

After some trying first moments, I have found the proper method of printing those 4 X 6 prints (my main use of this printer). I, too, had a lot of problems with the paper not engaging the rollers and paper jams. The photo paper carrier for this size print must have a lot of this photo paper in it to be successful. I experienced that nasty "whirring" sound prior to this and through trial and error, discovered the above. I found good prices for the 57 & 58 cartridges online, about half of the chain stores' prices. The quality is very good - - but nothing can approach regular 35 mm prints from a retail developer. I print from my digital camera through my computer.
Once you replace a print cartridge, you must follow the instructions in the manual perfectly; otherwise, the display will show that you are continually out of ink.
I have never used the 7150 to do 2-sided printing. The PhotoSmart 7350 replaced this printer.

Hewlett Packard is known for good quality merchandise. I am a photographer and enjoy taking pictures, printing them, and then giving them as gifts. This printer has excellent quality. I print using HP photo quality paper and am impressed with the finished product. I love how easy it is to use and to set up on any computer. I like the style and design of this printer. It seems quite durable considering the amount of printing I have done using this printer and what I paid for it.

The only thing that I would improve upon would be the amount of ink in the cartridge. I wish someone would make a printer that holds more ink that 17ml.

on gloss photo paper the photos come out perfect.I do not know how they could be any better.It is reasonable fast and quiet. It is an attractive looking design, and loads the paper flat which is better for the handling of photo paper.

Love it. Nothing bad to say. Prints absolutely beautiful pictures, suitable for framing. Use it with HP paper and you get a 62 year life (according to the hp rep). Good enough for our wall framings: saved us tons!
