Pros: Combines phone and some PDA functions, works with Outlook remotely Cons: Expensive, uses T-Mobile, somewhat klutzy
With the vast growth of wireless communications and hand held PDA's (Personal Data Devices) came the need to carry not only multiple portable devices but multiple chargers and to have multiple wireless accounts. As the pervasiveness of both wireless ...
Pros: multifunctional, great display, fast, QWERTY keyboard Cons: compromises on functionality, some software annoyances
In some sense I'm not the best person to review this product, as I'm very technically-knowledgeable (a nice way to say "I'm a geek" :-) and my needs are actually pretty simple. I used to use a T721. It was OK, but sending longish email messages with ...
Pros: e-mail & calendar & Internet on the go Cons: No bluetooth, no car-kit
This is a review for a Blackberry 7230 on Vodafone in UK for business use. The previous two opinions were about personal use, but Blackberry was designed actually for business use, due to its excellent integration with the corporate mail systems (such as ...
Pros: Intuitive use. Great battery life. A wireless E-mail and Web wiz! Cons: Thumbwheel scrolling tiresome. Application displays outdated. Creates speaker interference.
Several people in my firm (large software company) are completely addicted to their Blackberry 7230's, so much that some call it their "CrackBerry". As you might expect, when I was given the opportunity to acquire one of these little blue "do everything" ...
Pros: E-Mail access all in one place; Great battery life; No headset needed Cons: Backlight inadequate; Call drops significant
The Swiss Army Knife for the Techno-Savvy The Blackberry 7200 series is the new handheld introduced by RIM about a couple months back, and I finally got my hands on one. It is a great model, and to sum it up in a blurb, it is a great improvement over t ...
Pros: Screen, Performance Cons: Battery life relative to b-w version
The RIM Blackberry 7230 is a great product -- intuitive interface, great reception for email and phone, BUT you have to decide, color (723) or b-w? Although the color screen definitely has better resolution, the battery life (4 days before a charge) is much short than b-w (over a week). If you used to have a RIM 957 (which went for 3 weeks before a charge) and are switching, consider this carefully.
A MUST have device! No more cellphone juggle! by sandeew ,Jul 21 '04
Pros: It's blue, battery life is great, it does everything you need! Really! :) Cons: None. Long nails, big thumbs - no problem with the BB keyboard. :)
A MUST have device! No more cellphone juggle! Long gone are the days of carrying a pager, cellphone and a laptop! The 7230 is the BEST little device out there combining all 3 pretty much. Outlook integration, a simple yet functional color browser and a cellphone in one!
I've used BlackBerries since about '98 ... starting with the tiny unit right up to the "BlueBerry" ... this one is the best! I tried a few of the other products like the Samsung and the other SmartPhones out there ... I quickly ran back to the BlackBerry. NO OTHER UNIT has the PUSH functionality for email ... who wants to have to "check for email" ... it should beep, ring or vibrate when someone sends you a message ... just like a phone! :)
I love it - and their stock is fun to watch too (RIMM!).
wireless email/web browsing by johngo7470 ,Sep 27 '03
Pros: Wireless web and wireless email sent to you instantly. Amazing display, even in sunlight. Cons: It's no longer possible to "hide" from someone who sends you an email.
Having never owned a device like this, I found the Blackberry to be very well designed with a couple minor nits (it needs a NumLock function).
T-Mobile had initially provided web browsing, then "something happened", and the device no longer had web access. T-Mobile support provided some conflicting explanations suggesting that web browsing was not possible, and would not be available to web client (non-corporate) users. Web browsing has since been restored by some owners who found a way to unlock certain capabilities in the 7230.
The long standby time (up to 10 days) is also a nice feature.
T-Mobile appears to be the better deal at $40/month for unlimited data (compared to AT&T at $50/mo), however, I don't know how nationwide coverage compares between the units.
