Pros: Performance, Speed and Quality Cons: Software - although a reasonably solid package, some users may prefer other burning software.
I remember the dawn of the CD burner. It was an exciting time back then - the ability to store over 400 floppy discs worth of data on one optical cd while offering greater longevity due to the nature of the CD. As usual, there were some major ...

Pros: Fast access times, quiet compared to Lite-on drives Cons: Pricier than most burners
Over the past four years, I've been making cd-rw's on an 8x Plextor. It has been a trusty, reliable burner that I never had problems with. However, having to leave your computer alone while making a cd for 10 minutes was starting to get annoying,...

Pros: Solid construction and
Excellent price to performance ratio
Cons: The software bundle was disappointing at best
Plextor and Plexwriter drives have long history and tradition of high performance, solid construction and fairly high price tags

One of the best burners out there
by radzhome ,Nov 30 '04
Pros: - reliable - durable - 4mb cache - fast - great support Cons: - eject mechanism was defective, but plextor fixed it
I had this burner for two years now, I think the first one I got was defective, the eject mechanism sounded funny. The motor blew a year later, but plextor was nice enough to fix it for me and send it back. I have burnt too many disks with this burner, it has exceeded its life time long ago. approx. 2500 to 5000 disks were burnt in the last 2 years. It never failed a disk even once on me, unlike the Riccoh burner I had last, there is no comparison. This burner is undestrucable. I hardly ever burn at the full 48x, 20x is recommended to extend the life of the disk. None of the disks I burnt so far with this burner failed on me, unless they got scrached up. But with my last burner I had occurances where a disk just stopped working after 2 years.
