Pros: addicting, excellent setting, solid game Cons: interface issues, too much load time, rebels are too active.
Rome: Total War (RTW) is actually the only game that has come out these past few months to receive a 9.0+ score from Gamespot and IGN.com, the two major gaming sites on the web. Given that, since Ive been in a drought for good PC gaming, I decided ...
The History Channel's Historical Battles only wet my appetite for Creative Assembly's Rome: Total War (Rome:TW) . Imagine a top notch strategy game such as Medieval: Total War upgraded with a fully realized 3D engine. Before, the Total ...
Pros: Deep, addictive combat
Cons: Overly complex campaign system
For the armchair general, nothing hits that sweet spot like the Total War series. Where games like Command and Conquer and Starcraft focus on a small group of overpowered units battling it out in small-scale combat, Total War has embraced the exact ...
Pros: Graphics, the epic feel, the general gameplay, everything! Cons: Some AI issues and the fact that it isn't cheap
I am a sucker for military-themed historical computer games. Rome:Total War takes the cake as one of my favourite games ever. As I played this game, reruns of old Hollywood sword-and-sandal flicks swam around in my brain. Except this is better. Its ...
Pros: Huge depth, a thoroughly absorbing game which will keep you involved for months. Cons: If you have played the previous games in the series this may seem "samey".
Rome: Total War is the latest installment in the Total War series of Real Time Strategy games. The previous incarnations, Shogun TW and Medieval TW were brilliant games, does Rome deliver the same standard of quality? As you'd expect the game covers ...
Pros: Graphics, Sound, interesting game play Cons: Not always strong enemies
Do you remember Shogun: Total War? What about Medieval: Total War? If you had the opportunity to play both this games then you will find Rome: Total War as a fantastic continuation of the same game play. Shogun was great, Medieval added a few things that ...
Pros: Amazing Graphics
Realistic Sound effects
Battles of epic proportions Cons: Some troops retreat and charge without orders
Campiagn can get lengthy
I had always been a big fan of Historical RTS games and Medieval: Total War so when Rome: Total War (RTW for short) came out it made perfect sense to buy it. I am certainly glad I did too. Gameplay: RTW is a very deep game that isn't always ...
Pros: Addictive, amazing graphics, sound and detail; overall great gameplay, and very cleverly done Cons: Still turn-based, limited multiplayer, some AI issues, some crashes
I'm a sucker for historical fiction. From the time I read Robert Grave's I, Claudius at 14, I've been hooked. Shogun (James Clavell) was inspiration enough to buy the original in this series, Shogun Total War, and I eagerly awaited ...
Pros: Great Graphics and Game Depth. Cons: Bada A.I. and multiplay issues.
In a new take on real time strategy gaming, gamers can now take the challenge of building and protecting Rome over several generations. In the new release Rome Total War, RTS gaming has gone massive as the battle in the game are simply the largest and ...
Pros: -Terrific battle simulations
-Will take up many hours of your time! Cons: -Too many city rebellions
-Long load times
-Will freeze on slower computers
ROME: Total War is one of the most engrossing strategy games I have ever played, and I can admit to spending more than a few hours attempting to subjugate the various factions of ancient times. I had been looking for sometime for an in-depth strategy ...
Pros: great game play, long campaign, constantly thinking about every thing Cons: camera movement, gets kind of repetative in campaign
Rome total war caught my interest by the first preview that I seen. I had never played a total war game before this one and was I ready for it when I seen the first screen shots. I was amazed by the amount of troops that you could have on just one battle ...
Pros: Out and out the smartest game yet! Cons: Bribing is little too easy. The "advisor" is annoying.
I love strategy games, but they all have one failure: Lack of depth. Any game can make it hard by drowning you in enemies, making you control 500 units or micromanaging the last cent of money out of the NPCs so you can't compete. But, Rome Total War ...
Pros: Conquer the ancient world! Cons: Meet the Recommended system requirements.
If you ever played the previous titles and liked it. You'll love this one! Great graphics and I have just never seen an game be able to deliver so much in one title. Graphics, Gameplay, Sound, Music, and Replayibility I give it a A+.
Also play not only the Romans, but also the Gauls, Germans, Britons, Carthaginans, Egyptians, etc...
Only thing the game is missing is a Campaign that can be played in Multiplayer.
Caesar missed something when invading Britain by sciron1979 ,May 16 '06
Pros: High graphics, excellent game-play, realistic features, very, very cool campaign and great online gameplay
Cons: No Multi-player campaign
I bought Rome: Total War, knowing that it would be an excellent game. I loved Medieval: Total War and I am truely interested in Roman History, so this game truely appealed to me. After having RTW for about one and a half year, i can say that Rome: Total War is the best strategy games uptill now. This game is truely excellent: High quality graphics, great gameplay (both in Singleplayer and Multiplayer) and good combination of Roman Glory and a Total War game. But what i realized is that there is something missing in RTW that would make this game complete, and no, its not another x-pack.
The only thing that is still missing and what a lot of Total War fans are asking for is a Multiplayer Campaign. It is the only thing that is required to give this game a full 100% If it were ever made for RTW, i'd like to download (or buy) it.
Who doesn't want to take over Europe!? by unbalanced ,Jun 14 '05
Pros: Easy to learn interface, Massive armies and battles, addictive game play Cons: Load time is slow, map scrolling is a little sluggish, AI is predictable
It didn't take long before I was commanding legions in my army in battle, trying to flank the enemy, and rally the troops with my general to lead me to victory! "Rome: Total War " draws you in quick and wont let you go for many hours. The game can be long winded, and it takes time to build large armies and gain favor in other regions for diplomatic success. The game can also be customized to be short by obtaining specific goals . You can also play reenactments of Historical battles in that time period. A must have for strategy game lover!
