Mike Mignola's demonic antihero makes his second video game appearance in this third-person brawler set within atmospheric locales inspired by the Dark Horse comic book series and 2004 film directed by Guillermo del Toro. Hellboy can use his brute strength and "right hand of doom" to pummel, bludgeon, and crush the life out of demons, Nazi loyalists, and other supernatural creatures, or he can break apart structures, furniture, and other nearby objects to use as weapons. A grappling system not unlike those found in wrestling games lets players grab, lift, throw, swing, and slam enemies to set up combination attacks and other interesting combat options. Hellboy's foes happen to be a bit more organized than your common riffraff, but players can unleash confusion and disarray among the ranks by singling out and defeating each vile faction's leader. Cooperative play is also supported, with a friend controlling either the pyrokinetic Liz Sherman or the mutant Abe Sapien. Film and animated series star Ron Perlman lends his voice to Hellboy.
