Experience sound quality that pushes past the boundaries of ordinary speakers with the Polk Audio RTiA9 speaker. This floorstanding speaker model exemplifies all the qualities of a high-quality audio speaker. The sleek design of the real wood finish enhances the decor of any room, and the compact design takes up a minimum of floor space. This stereo beast by Polk utilizes the DAHLI design and Klippel optimization so listeners get to enjoy clear audio even at high- or low-volume levels. Besides looking chic, the curvature of the cabinet also provides rich and accurate sound. The 500-watt power capability provides listeners with a wide range of listening options that remain optimized for clear and crisp audio enjoyment. This is the top of the RTi line system from Polk, both in size and quality. The massive 500-watt capacity means that you will benefit most from this floorstanding unit if you connect it to a large driver. A receiver might not get you enough wattage, so an amp might be necessary. You should aim to be able to drive at least 200 watts to each unit. The sheer amount of force and size of the unit means you will be able to fill very large rooms with tons of sound. In terms of what is actually inside each of the RTiA9 units, there is a total of six transducers. At the top, there are two 5.25-inch midrange transducers with a small 1-inch tweeter in between them. Each component has its own separate housing for greater purity. Below you will find three big bass woofers, each 7 inches in diameter and with PowerPort technology to prevent the tones in this range from being trapped inside the cabinet. The combined effect leads to enormous sound. Each RTiA9 has a teardrop profile if you look at it from the top down, an approach that minimizes internal resonance. Polk also layers on the Damped Asymmetric Hex Laminate Isolation, or DAHLI, system, which provides a set of six permeable layers on the inside of the wood veneer for additional resonance reduction. That veneer can come in either cherry or black, which means the speakers will fit in best with furniture made of dark woods, although the finish is of high quality and can fit into most decors. That's important considering the size and space a pair of these will take up. The quality of tone coming out of the floor-standing speakers is clear at both high and low volumes. The highs are fully discernible, the mids are incredibly detailed, and the low end is dense and strong. A subwoofer is purely optional since these speakers do so well with bass already. The soundstage is wide and deep no matter the volume and range. This makes these speakers useful for a variety of functions, including music that ranges from classical to heavy meta, as well as home theater applications. Even DTS and surround sound on 4K Blu-ray discs can boom clearly from these Polk speakers. The audio spectrum makes these speakers as effective for conveying the soundtrack for a party as they are for capturing the detail of a whisper.
