Details: La Petite Auberge often wins local awards as the best French restaurant in San Rafael, and the cuisine is very traditional. An all-pink interior is lit up by the giant skylight, but the room is casual, with plants scattered in corners and a slightly worn feeling to the enterprise. Coquilles St. Jacques (scallops, shrimp, mushrooms and cheese) is a specialty, and the roasted chicken is reminiscent of Parisian bistro fare. Purists may like the filet of sole meuniere.
