Pros: Great ingredients, good concept, organic, great packaging.
Cons: Expensive, not-so-great color.
The concept of this Lip Glaze in Strawberry by 100% Pure is great- it is fruit pigmented, so the coloring comes straight from fruits. I used to hear about how Cleopatra usedfruits to pigment her makeup in ancient history (and we've all heard of her beauty), but we tend to not use fruits for makeup these days. The whole "fruit pigmented" and "organic" concept is a refreshing concept this day and age- and so it peaks interest for people like myself to buy products like 100% Pure's and like this Lip Glaze. This Strawberry Lip Glaze, sadly, falls short of my expectations.
This Lip Glaze just is not my favorite. I find that organic cosmetic companies tend to have a great concept, but cannot deliver a superiorlipstick. I guess I just think that the lip-pumping lipsticks from Avon are the best (and full of chemicals!), and those synthetic chemicals in makeup are what make the lipstick really work and look good on the lips. Organic companies have the big task of finding natural replacers that moisturize, plump, tint, shimmer and have staying power (and everything that a great lipstick would entail).
This lip glaze seems moisturizing, but my lips feel dry after I use it. It does have some staying power (I'd say 45 minutes or so). It's not a tint, so it doesn't "stain" the lips in any way, but it is like a lipstick (medium in coverage, not sheer, nor matte). I just don't LOVEthe color, either it is a very bubble-gum strawberry pink. Iadd other lipsticks to it to give it a better color or throw on colored lip gloss over top. I got this in a kit, so I would never pay the $15 price tag for it by itself, but I just had to try it once (100percentpure.com).
The only organic company where I like the lipstick is by Gabriel and Zuzu (this same company owns these two product lines) Cosmetics. I still have a of trial and error with lipsticks to find the perfect brand. 100% Pure isn't my favorite but I will still try their other products because they do have great ingredients (fruits!).
The ingredients are; Organic avocado butter, organic cocoa butter, contains all or some of the following fruit pigments: Organic cherry, organic plum, cabernet grape, organic raspberry, organic blueberry, organic blackberry, organic peach, organic apricot, organic tomato, organic pomegranate, organic cacao (chocolate), organic rose petals, organic lavender flower, organic cinnamon, organic shea butter, organic rosehip oil, organic mango butter, vitamin E, vitamin C, and may contain Mmca (a shimmery mineral). You get a .088-ounce slim tube. The tube is pretty and looks like mascara to me, so I accidentally grab it all the time to put on my eyes (whoops). It's a beautiful, mirrored-silver tube (they have great packaging in my opinion for their cosmetics). I've tried this lipstick on my cheeks as well and it's not good there, either. It does smell and taste like strawberries as well (which is cool).
With all that said, 100 Percent Pure does make some good products, but so far they are a hit, miss or just "so-so". I'll keep trying stuff until I find some favorites, but the lip glaze just doesn't do it for me.
