My wife and I have been struggling with our current mattress setup.  There are two box springs below our king size mattress and they are worn out.  Therefore, the center line between them is translating up through the mattress (still in perfect shape) and causing us to actually roll to the sides of the bed.  We decided, then, to eliminate them and use a king-size platform bed frame in lieu of the two box springs.  We began our search locally without success so  then began our internet search and discovered one particular setup offered by a number of suppliers. 

The one we decided on was made by "Boyd Specialty Sleep".  Boyd is the actual manufacturers/importers.  They offer their product through a number of retailers.  Here's the rub.  While most of the suppliers were offering similar prices for the product, the shipping was a killer. Some places wanted over $100 to ship to our home!  The box was only 50 pounds but was large and cumbersome and probably the cause of the excess shipping costs.

We did, however, find that one supplier offered the frame we desired with ZERO shipping via FedEx of all carriers.  The total cost to us, then, was $185.00.

The box arrived in good condition and essentially contained two, twin platform mattress frames totally folded in half.  I was able to easily carry them one at a time to the bedroom on the 3rd floor, unfold them and, without any tools, the four brackets swung into place making a very rigid platform.  After assembling the second one, the two twins literally snapped together to form one very strong and flat but light-weight king frame.  It only took me 5 minutes to put them both up and together so the engineering that went into these frames was superb.  Now the mattress lays 100% flat on the new frame and the storage beneath is a God-send.  My wife has found 8 large plastic containers (purchased at Costco) that easily slide below the mattress and will provide us with much needed winter or summer clothes storage in a dust free environment.   As an aside, I also purchased two brackets to bolt on my headboard.  They, too, went on extremely easy and offer a zillion different holes for just about any headboard setup.  

All in all this was a very straight-forward and successful project primarily due to the supplier and the wonderful engineering of this piece.  There isn't a sharp edge anywhere and our mattress fit the top with precision.  I would not hesitate to order anything from Boyd or specifically Humbleabode.com again.  Even as my order was being prepared for delivery, the Humbleabode.com sent us an alert that it was coming and what to look for if the box was damaged complete with photos and contact info.  This was excellent customer service.

I hope this helps anyone looking for a similar frame.  In an era where so much has been hyped, this project was understated and the product was excellent.
