I have to admit, I wanted the EyeModule for the pure geek factor (read: I wanted it because it was such a cool gadget). I then realized there were also some useful applications for the little gadget.
At first I used it for reference for digital filmmaking, to frame shots. Then I mostly used it for impromptu family and friend photos... which leads to its main use -- to share photos via e-mail and web.
The EyeModule is very convenient and easy to use. It is practically inobtrusive, only adding a small amount of height to your Visor. This added height can be a problem for those using the provided snap-on cover for the Visor. Not a problem if you use a slip case, though!
The Eyemodule is certainly very high on the gadget scale. Everyone will ooh and ahh at it... "Is that a camera?" they will ask. Some people won't even notice you're taking pictures at first... great for sneaky pictures... heh heh ;)
The images, as expected, aren't of the highest quality. There are only three resolution options: small grayscale, large grayscale and large color. Not a lot of choice there. I prefer to shoot in grayscale... the color images are very unpredictable since you have no control over lighting. No focus control is also a hinderance.
With the release of a new free application from the makers of EyeModule, called EyeContact, you can integrate thumbnail images to your address book entries. Great if you forget names easily (heh). Very cool, and a good move on their part.
The EyeModule is certainly a lot of fun. I love it for the convenience and fun... but would not depend on it for quality digital photography.
