Weight Watchers Winning Points is the current weight loss program at Weight Watcher centers and at www.weightwatchers.com. I am a huge fan of the Weight Watchers program. Why? Because it is a simple to follow program and it works. Anyone, and I mean anyone can follow the Winning Points program and lose weight.
Each person, based on your current weight, gets a specific number of points a day. You eat within your points range each day. For example, a person weighing 175-199 pounds gets 22-27 points a day. I am a nursing mother and there is even a program for me to follow. Nursing moms get an extra 10 points a day in addition to their daily point range. Each food is assigned points. Of course, healthier foods like fruits and vegetables have low points such as 0 points to 4 points and other foods have points based on serving sizes. A breakfast consisting of 2 low fat toasted frozen waffles with 2 tbsp. of maple syrup and 1 1/2 cups of sliced strawberries is a 6 point breakfast. A banana (2 points) and a cup of non fat milk (2 points) makes for a 4 point snack. One of the most valuable tools is the "Pointsfinder". You get one of these with registration. What this does is takes the calories, fat grams and fiber and figures out how many points are in a serving.
Exercise can earn you additional points per day and you can "bank" points for a special occasion. For instance, say you only have 24 of your daily points (based on 22-27 points being your range). You can then "bank" the points for a special ocassion or dessert if needed. There is NOTHING you can't eat on this program. It is all about portion sizes. I can even tell you that you can have a Krispy Kreme donut (5 points for the plain glazed!). That is the great thing about Weight Watchers. You don't have to feel like you are on a diet or that you are deprived of good food. This program isn't grapefruit and cottage cheese.
I have been on the program for 5 weeks now and have lost 13 pounds. What really works for me is:
-Drinking lots of water
-Journaling (you get a new journal each paid week which you can keep track of what you eat and keep track of your points)
-Going to the meetings EVERY week. I go to a Mommy and Me meeting where children are welcome.
-Trying new recipes from either the Weight Watcher website or Weight Watcher cookbooks and magazines
-The support of friends and family. I joined with my sister in law and we exchange recipes and call each other for help and advice.
