I recently went on my first bus tour with COSMOS. As I was traveling solo the Single Share facility with COSMOS is what attracted me to their tours as it kept the cost quite reasonable. I was matched with a person the same gender and of a similar age to myself (which was great as I had envisaged waking in the middle of the night staring at false teeth in a glass).I was very impressed with the quality of both tours however I have to admit that the Totem Circle was the better of the two tours. The Tour Director (Lyn) and Driver (Peter) were exceptional. The information they imparted to all of us on the tour was immense. The accommodations were of a good standard considering they were only used for sleeping as most of the time was spent out and about exploring new places. The optional tours were good and organised well. Whilst the average age of the group was quite older than myself, it was still a lot of fun and it was very heart wrenching to part from them.
Alaska and the Yukon tour was different from what I expected. This time I was roomed up with a lady a bit older than myself, and that experience made the trip less enjoyable. The tour director and driver were both good however very different to the others. The accommodations were basic in most places we stopped and bathroom facilities at roadside stops were very primitive. As the distances traveled each day were quite a lot longer than through Canada, the large amount of time spent on the bus became increasingly difficult as the trip wore on. The scenery throughout Alaska was also different from what I had expected with limited things to look at. The optional excursions were good although the trip to the Arctic Circle differed from the description given in the brouchure. If I was to do the trip again that it one side trip that I would definately passed on.
