Pros: Great itenerary
Excellent tour guide
Game drives and river cruises were incredible
Cons: Would have liked to have more optional tours available
This all inclusive tour (including air) to South Africa was an excellent value for the money. We toured the Cape Town peninsula, saw African penguins, toured Table Mountain and the city. We did game drives in Hluhluwe-Umfolozi, Kruger, and Chobe game reserves, and did river cruise safaries in St Lucia Estuary, Zambezi River, and Chobe River. We saw so many elephants, rhinos, hippos, monkeys, baboons, impalas, cape buffalo, some lions and zebras - it was phenomenal. The river cruise in Chobe was one of the highlights of the trip - so many elephant families, baby elephants, elephants crossing the river - an incredible scene. Enjoyed Victoria Falls but we went at the end of the dry season (October) so there was not as much waterflow. We stayed at the Vicoria Falls Safari Lodge which had its own watering hole where you could sit on the deck and watch animals all day long visiting the water hole. All the hotels we stayed in were quite nice. The hotel outside Kruger Park in Hazyview was beautiful with a gorgeous view of the farmlands on the hillside. The tour guide was very knowlegeable and professional. The bus ride called the Panarama Route from Zimbabwe to Johannesburg was an unexpected surprise - we visited Bourke's Luck Potholes which looked very much like some of the gorges in the Grand Canyon. We went in the Sept/Oct timeframe and the weather was excellent.
