Pros: Great guide in Rome: Francesco. Easy Logistics!
Cons: Just wish we had more time there! :)
We took the "Best of Italy" tour through Monograms (Globus) and started at Rome. Our tour guide was Franscesco, who was absolutely GREAT. His passion was history and his city and you could tell that he loved what he did. He knew so much about Rome, that he made our tour absolutely fascinating. He encouraged us to go to sites that weren't included on the tour, and told us how to get there. He was the BEST of the guides on our entire trip. We ate dinner outside the Pantheon one night because he told us what a delight it would be. We travelled to Florence, then Venice, and the transportation, and coordination with the agents was seamless. The only hotel that was slightly problematic was in Venice, and that was only because it was, well, Venice. Everything is OLD and decaying there. Our entire tour was VERY well organized, and when we chose to take the extra excursions, we were pleasantly surprised at the depth of planning that went into them. We went to the island of Burano, off Venice, where they make hand-made lace, and had a 5-course meal that was to die for. It was such a picturesque little island too. Colorful cottages, and the people were all so nice. It has its own leaning tower!!! The guide tells you all about what you are seeing as you make your way there. You even pass by Elton John's Venice home.. We had a great time, and plan on using Globus again when we go to Europe the next time!
