Pros: Globus takes all the worry out of travel
Great tour Guide
Cons: Due to the quick pace, not suitable for everyone. Limited free time.
The best vacation I ever had! I can not say enough about this tour and the excellent service from Globus. Our trip was 10 days, and started with arrivel in London. Our first night, we did the Optional Taste of London river cruise. The next day we went south to Stonehendge, Salsbury, and bath. Then to Cardiff Wales, staying in Newort. Ferry to Ireland, and up through waterford, and dublin. Visited multiple sites in Ireland, then ferry to Scottland, Edinbourgh. We loved Scottland the best. Then to York England, Stratford Upon Avon, and last day back in London. Our tour guide was Julian, and he was the best. So knowlegable, and with a great sense of humor. The coach dirver we had was named Joe, and what a wonderful man he was. We could not have felt more safe, than with him driving. We stayed in very clean hotels, and the service was always great. Good food, lots of hearty soups that we dont see in the states.
Some quick tips:
Arrive in London a few days before the tour starts, to get past the jet lag, and to see some sites. We did not get to see much of London.
Be prepared for non-stop moving. This tour is on the go, and requires a lot of walking.
Bring a heavy duty unbrella, lots of rain especially in October when we went. Windy too, so the cheapo unbreallas dont work. I also brought a hooded rain coat.
Some of the stops are very quick. To avoid wasting time eating, grab a sandwich, or bag snack, you can carry as you go. You get hearty breakfasts, and dinners, so dont waste time with a sit down lunch.
Pay for the optional excursions. It is worth it. They typically include a meal, and a show, or event. I was not unhappy with any of them, and it took the guess work out of where to eat.
If you feel you need a break, use one of the 2 night stays to take the break. My mother kept pushing herself, when she could of missed out on a dinner or afternoon excursion, and got the break she needed.
A great tour for couples, singles, friends, and families with older/teen children. Not a trip for small children, or those unable to take the quick pace.
We will be going back, counting down the days! I could not have been happier. My only complaint was the last night we stayed at the London Metropole, and I felt it was to large, compared to the other more intimate hotels we stayed it. It was noisy, unnpleasent, and I did not feel as comfortable in that section of London. I hope Globus will consider sticking with the smaller hotels. Other than that, it was all great.
