Hi sashasmommy,
I am the Internet Marketing Manager at Go Ahead Tours. I just wanted to take a moment to drop you a line and say thank you for posting such wonderful reviews about Go Ahead Tours! We really appreciate the time you took to answer others questions about our company!
I also wanted to apologize for your frustrations with our customer service department prior to your tour. We do take pride in our customer service and I'll be sure to pass your comments along to our Customer Service manager so that improvements can be made.
Regarding the Travel Protection packages we offer, you actually CAN purchase just the cancellation insurance without purchasing the entire package. I'm sorry if you weren't given that information on the phone.
Again, thank you for your review. I hope we'll see you on another Go Ahead tour - possibly Costa Rica - in the near future!
Best,
Lynne

I did buy the insurance, but no, didn't have to use it. I will not buy it again, though. The insurance I really wanted was the cancellation insurance because my father has unpredictable health, but in order to get that, you had to get the full package of insurance, most of which is useless. All of the insurance is secondary, which means that if you already have insurance covering that issue, you cannot use theirs. Like lost luggage... if your homeowners insurance covers lost luggage, you are required to claim it on your homeowners insurance (which would be monumentally stupid to make such a petty claim on your homeowners insurance.) So, basically you are paying them for insurance you are never going to use.
As for losing your money... I would never trust anyone with my money or camera... the only things I left on the bus were the things I didn't care about :-) Hard lesson learned...
