| dplank's Full Review: Worry Free MLT Vacations |
Returned 2/13/04 from 7-day "Worry-Free" St Louis to Cozumel air/hotel package. These were last minute plans through the 'TravelZoo' made only a week in advance. Booked Hotel Casa Mexicana over Worry-Free net site. Confirmation came back for Casa DelMar. Don't know how it happened, but a phone call to Worry-Free 800-number straightened it out in a jiffy. Very polite, nice people to work with. All we needed was a picture ID, birth certificate or passport, and our booking confirmation printed off the computer, no tickets necessary ... flights and hotel check-ins as smooth as could be.
Our flights were a charter on Allegiant Airlines, itinerary showed no meals, but had fairly tasty meal included, the same both ways (chicken breast or ravioli pasta). We were mixed with a group from Apple & FunJet tours. From the other travelers we talked to, we paid at least $1,000 less for the same tour through the Worry-Free last minute booking.
We were met at the airport as promised and taken to our hotel; in the morning, met with an Olympus Tour (apparently contracted by Worry-Free) representative who explained the island's attractions, transportation options, and offered to set up diving/snorkel expeditions, glass bottom boat tours, sightseeing, etc., if we wished. He said he'd be available every morning in the hotel lobby to answer any questions, and could always be reached by phone if we needed anything. Nice man, very helpful. He also gave us our free voucher for the taxi to return to the airport for our return flight. No problems.
The Allegiant (MD-83) flight itself was very smooth, although if possible, would recommend getting seats past the 15th row. It seems on Allegiant that they added an extra row of seats in the front and your knees touch the seat in front of you. On return flight we were in the 15th row and were much more comfortable. Both ways flight was delayed about 15 minutes. Arrived in St. Louis about 9:50 p.m. and it was after 11:30 before we had our baggage and were through customs. Baggage was a bit slow coming through on the return flight, but in Cozumel had no wait at all.
The hotel Casa Mexicana booked through the package was new in 2000, very clean, huge breakfast buffet (7-11 a.m.) was included in price. Very centrally located, walking distance to all San Miguel attractions. Great bargain too.
In February, $882 for 2 people including all fees and transfers, for 7-day hotel/air package STL to Cozumel, can't be beat. Would try them again in a heartbeat! As a matter of fact, checked their site today and there is another package leaving Feb. 27th we just may be on ~
