momofmichael's Full Review: 1 - 1/2no. Miracle Gro/Toma
I am new to gardening and started about 1 1/2 years ago with just a tomato plant on the back porch. When I was picking one out at Wal-Mart the garden center lady also suggested this Miracle-Gro tomato plant food. I thought it was a little pricey but she assured me it was worth the investment. So far I've only used 1/3 of the box so I guess a little goes a long way and the price isn't so bad in that regard.
I really can't say that it made my tomato plant better, bigger, or stronger because I have nothing to compare it to. Furthermore the darn racoons got the tomatoes and then the deer at the plant. So we are now on our third tomato plant and now it is planted in the garden which is fenced in. Since I've graduated from one plant to an entire garden I have now used this plant food on the entire garden since the box says it feeds "all vegetables".
I don't even have a big watering can but becuase the included measuring device works best with one gallon or larger I have recycled a milk jug and mix it in there. With the included scoop it is a bit difficult to get the powder down the mouth of the jug but it's nothing that can't be remedied with a funnel or, in desperation, a few deftly curved fingers. I am impressed that the consistency of the powder easily dissolves in water and doesn't even need a mixing stick. I have even let part of the liquid sit in the jug for a week or so and it never settles. Even so, I give it a little shake before I water with it.
