Pros: Handling is perfectly balanced, vtwin rumble, reliability has been perfect
Cons: Riding position hurts after 10hrs, can't start bike with sidestand down (unless you buy kit)
The Bottom Line: Outstanding bike. Frame, steering, brakes are superior. Commuter/Track/City this bike will do it all.

| action_cat's Full Review: 2000 Ducati Super Sport |
I have had a 2001 750SS for 2 years and absolutely love it. I rode a BMW K100RS before the SuperSport and was looking for something lighter and more sporty. The Ducati has exceeded all of my expectations. Coming off a bulletproof BMW and having heard disaster stories about Ducati reliability I purchased a 4yr, unlimited mileage warranty extension for $800. I've used it twice, one for a leaking rear cylinder head (would have been expensive if I had to pay for it) and another time because the bolts that hold my exhaust pipes to the headers rattled off.
The bike is superb. Perfect balance and handling. Deep v-twin grunt with tons of torque. I drilled the airbox, chipped it, added some teeth to the rear sprocket, and put some Ducati performance aluminum pipes on it. It is perfect. When I got it, I thought it would be a stepping stone to a 998 but I'm so happy I don't want to switch.
A long 12hr day to San Francisco on I-5 (I know lame, but I was in a hurry) was brutal. By the time I arrived, I never wanted to sit on the bike again. However, the trip home was up a winding coast highway and much less painful on the back/wrists/neck.
The SS is a quality bike. Same engine style as the classic SuperSports from the 70s. Oh, and mine is 1/2 faired- the only way to go. ;)
