Great Harley to Start With

Pros:Lighter than the big Harleys making it easier to handle.
 Cons:A bit more challenging to ride with a passenger.
 The Bottom Line: This is a great bike to start with. The 1200CC engine on the 883 frame provides the horsepower needed for a lot of fun.

The sporster is a great Harley to start with. I have a 1200CC which is my first bike. It has enough horsepower to fun, yet is small enought to easily handle.

I would recommend the lowering kit that will bring the height of the bike about 1-2 inches lower. It makes it easier to manage the bike when stopped. If you plan on doing a lot of cruising I would also recommend highway pegs and a winshield.

The sportsters will not hold their value as well as the bigger bikes, but you will get a good trade in value, or resale to the public value.
