| spackle's Full Review: 2000 Honda Elite 80 |
A little over a year ago my brain decided i would own a scooter. I had never ridden anything with 2 wheels other then a bicycle, I had only ridden on the back of a motorcycle about 4 times in my life. I started saving, took out a small loan and a few months later had a Honda Elite 80 delivered to my door.
I was also looking at Italian scooters but the price difference drew me to the Honda. I wanted to go with something new because frankly I'm lazy when it comes to learning about how to fix things of a mechanical nature.
I live in Colorado and drive it year round (there are only about 20 days out of the year when there is snow on the roads, those days I walk).
I have also found that my front wheel squeaks rather loadly. I had the brakes and wheel looked and but the shop said they were fine. Mostly I just put up with it. Other then one tune up (with them checking out the front wheel) I have had no mechanical problems.
I drive it primarly alone, but often ride with my girlfriend on the back. Though it increases stopping distance and significantly decreases acceleration, I've found it works pretty well.
The major problem I have is that I can't find much information on Honda Scooters other sales. There are a million books on Vespas but not much for Honda.
