Pros: Affordable, incredible gas mileage, fun, comfortable, reliable.
Cons: Plastic-y, dated styling.
The Bottom Line: Highly recommended: Fantastic value; a fun, reliable and economical way to get around town, as long as you don't need highway speeds or "Vespa" styling.

| coreyuu's Full Review: 2000 Honda Elite 80 |
I owned a 2001 Honda Elite 80 for a couple years and loved it. Fast enough for anything besides highways; I typically got mine in the high 40's, occasionally 50mph and got consistently 99mpg. Carrying a passenger was possible but did slow it down a bit. 300lb max capacity is an appropriate recommendation. Very very fun to ride and got lots of compliments on it. Ended up getting wrecked, though not enough to cause any problems driving it. Later it was stolen and I miss it terribly.
Didn't care for the mid-80's styling, though it does look better in person, and it does allow for a decent-sized "trunk" which opens from the front, right above the front tire. Helmet hangs outside the scooter from a hook under the seat, which was just as secure to me as storing it under the seat. I would've preferred steel body panels but at least the plastic would never rust, didn't rattle, and probably helped fuel economy by keeping weight down.
It really says something about the appeal of this scooter that Honda can still sell it largely unchanged after 20+ years. It'd be like Ford still selling the Aerostar minivan. Honda would have a real winner if they updated the styling a la their 50cc Metropolitan, especially if they boosted the displacement to 125-150cc.
