I bought my 2000 Shadow ACE used in July 2001. It had less than 2,500 miles. I had tested a Yamaha Road Star 650 which I felt was a little under powered...Then I fired up the Shadow! It sounded great with after market drag pipes
I fell in love.Oh then I rode it! Even riding 2up I didn't find it to be under powered at all.,but I must add the previous owner had added drag pipes and re-jetted the carb,I run right along with my friend's 1450 Lowboy

The to me, the bike handles well even on curvy and hilly WV roads.
I ride it like a 4 speed using 5th as an overdrive gear.

I've been riding for nearly 30 years and had several bikes..It's not the quickest bike I've owned..but overall one of the best. Though it is chain drive..I don't mind upkeep,I suggest PJ1 spray lube,it doesn't "fly off" I replaced the OEM chain at a little over 25k. Oh and remember to "slack" your chain more when riding 2up..
