I bought this bike in February, 2000, and I love it. This is the first bike I bought for myself, the others have mainly been for my husband. But this is my bike, all mine!! Even though I am a lady biker, this 1100cc is not too big for me to handle.
I have a Spirit 2000, 1100cc. It is a big bike, that is comfortable to ride, and lots of room for a rider also.
Some of the specs are: 1099cc liquid cooled V twin engine, 5 speed transmission, shaft drive, has a 65 in wheel base, and weighs 552 pounds. As a lady biker, it is not too heavy or bulky to maneuver.
The gear shifter has taken some time to break in, it is often difficult to go from 2nd gear into neutral or from 1st into neutral. This makes coming to a stop frustrating. While moving, the shifting is fine. I have adjusted it, so now it is better, but not as smooth as I would prefer.
It is great on gas mileage, I get around 60 miles to a gallon! With rising gas prices, too bad I cannot ride it to work! The gas tank is the standard 4.2 gallons with a half gallon reserve.
I have re-adjusted the clutch to have not much play, I like to barely let go of the clutch and start to move. This is in contrast to the Shadow Ace-Tourer we have. On that bike, you have to let the clutch out almost completely before you move.
This bike reminds me of the Shadows made in the early 1980's. It is all black, much chrome, and you sit 'in it' as opposed to on it like a sport bike. It is made for cruising, and I can ride for hours without getting sore and tired.
