| foxspy's Full Review: 2000 Honda XR100R |
The Honda XR100 is a good beginners bike. I suggest riders from the age of 12-15 ride this bike. The bike's motor can handle heavier riders, but the size of the bike can not.
The Honda XR100 has an overall score of a 9 on the rating table in my opinion. You can take this bike racing, or take out in the desert to rip up those sand dunes. You can also take it out into the woods and rip up those trails.
The Honda XR100 does not weigh but 150 pounds, so you do not have to fight the bike to turn. The bikes goes where you want it to go. The suspension is good, it is a very smooth ride. You can jump a double jump and barley feel it when landing. The power of this bike can get you through that thick sand and get you up those steep hills that you are scared of going up.
If you want to race this bike, you can, but I think this bike will do the best out on the trails. Handleing is good so you can toss that bike around and get around those tight corners and around trees.
Since the Honda XR100 is a four stroke motorcycle, you can use the engine as a third brake. The four strokes are a little slower than the two strokes but they have more power. Do not drag race a CR80, which is two stroke, but you can challenge him to a tug of war contest. The four strokes do not have the power band that the two strokes have but the two strokes don't have the third brake that the four strokes have.
The Honda XR100 was a popular bike and there are a lot of after marker parts available if you want to beef it up some.
If you are thinking about buying a dirt bike for your son or if you are in the age range of the XR100, I would get one. They are great to learn on. And don't forget to wear the proper safety gear and helments.
