| jonny2pac's Full Review: 2000 Honda XR100R |
I owned a 1996 XR 100 which essentially the same bike as the 2000 aside from the color. I rode this bike as a beginner bike and found it to be a great teacher. I got my 100 when I was 13. I rode it for about two and a half years and never really outgrew it. My need for more power came into effect, but the bike always help up to its end of the bargain. It's not dangerous and unpredictable like a two stroke, put has enough power to get the rider into any class of bikes after they're done learning. I went from riding my 100, to a friends XR 600 and did fine. The next bike I bought after the 100 was a XR 400 which I absolutely love. If you want to know more about that bike, I wrote an opinion on it also. The 100 is versatile enough to do about any style of riding you want. It's quiet enough to ride around the yard in, but has enough power to get it through some serious trails. I took it to a national park in southern Ohio (extremely hilly country) and it performed much better than I thought it would. There where some hills down there that I thought I would never get up, but the bike had no problem. I would seriously recomend this bike to a beginning rider from the age of 11-14. Some ten years old could ride it too I'm sure. I rode it until I was 15, but I wouldn't purchase one if they are that age because it won't be too long before they want to move up in size.
