| mr2_turbo_91's Full Review: 2000 Honda XR100R |
Where do I start?? I recently bought a 2002 honda xr100 brand new straight from the dealership after reading a bunch of these reviews on here and doing a bit of my own research on other sites dedicated to this incredible bike. I was very excited indeed when they first started her up at the dealership and I could hear how smooth it reved, it was just a matter of time until I got to test the perfomace for myself the next day. The first thing I noticed was the massive rear suspension on this bike but unfortuantely I can not say the same for the front, the front forks could use about 3 more inches of travel. When you sit on this bike you just sink into the frame and it is very comfortable indeed but this does not say anything about the performance. Let me tell you..... this bike probably has one of the best torque to engine size ratios out there as I could probably tow a bloody car up a hill behind me. The acceleration on these new models is also very good too as I was able to keep up to my friend on his Cr125 and we accelerated at almsot the same rate. The top speed however is not that great but for a 12-15 year old rider it is more than enough going about 60mph full out. The bike is also very easy to maneuver in the tight trails and the power out of the turns is just amazing, it's hard not to wheelie or burn out. I would say overall however that this bike has more top end power than low end because once u start getting up there it just takes off. I have climbed hills that are 75 degrees, almost straight up and this bike just pulled me all the way, too bad I can't say the same for my friends on their 2 stroke peices of crap. I even went up an entire street pulling my friend behind me in a tobagon when it snowed otuside and we eventually got going full speed, keep in mind we both weight 160 pounds!!!! My last point I have to mention is the reliability of this bike, I am suprised mine still works and I jsut got it 6 months ago!! I am 16 and weight 160 pounds so this bike is to small for me but you wouldn't be able to tell when you are ripping on it and let me tell you I do just about everything you can imagine from 2 minutes wheelies to 5 foot jumps and this bike still runs fine after crashing atleast 10 times. I haven't had a problem yet except for the replacemnt of my back rim since it is a hunck of ****.
Overall if you are really looking for a cheap, realiable, very powerful dirtbike and you are still a youngster than hands down an xr100 is the bike for you, if you choose anything other than a honda I will kill you!
