My Klr650 has been a pretty good bike. It's my first motorcycle and I have found it to be very easy to ride.Off road it's pretty heavy for any major adventures but on tar or gravel roads it works great.
There are quite a few aftermarket parts for this bike as well and it's great to know that it has stayed the same, except color, for 11 years so all used parts are interchangeable.
I find this bike very nice for around town. You sit as high as most trucks so your view is good. The gas mileage has been between 50 and 60 which is pretty decent and the seat is nice for being stock. All around a comfy ride.
I have had a couple issues with the coil but that seems to be it so far. The stock tires wear out pretty quick but work well even on wet roads. Thebrakes are average but can be upgraded if needed. The small windshield is a nice touch but I would buy a larger replacement one if you plan on taking even short trips on the highway.
The seat is pretty tall. I have a long inseam 6ft1"and I can just put both feet flat.My friend who is around 5,9 struggles to be comfortable at stop signs and lights, but again you can buy a kit to drop it about an inch or so.
Overall this bike is a really great design. For my first bike I was worried about getting such a large one but it is so easy to ride and it just fits into so many needs. The aftermarket parts are many but the suppliers are few so you may need to do some hunting.Dual-star products have many really nice upgrades at least that's what I found. I would say this bike is a perfect all purpose motorcycle. It can do almost anything pretty darn well.It doesn't really excel at them but, for most peoples needs it performs at or a bit above par.Great value.
