I have a Suzuki Bandit 1200 and my friend has a KLR 650. We've swapped bikes while riding so I can agree with just about everything this writer says about the bike. It's a very "streetable" dual purpose bike and I really admire its simplicity. When you ride a versatile bike like the KLR it makes you realize just how much there is to enjoy in motorcycling -- much of which is not available to riders of bikes that lose their composure where the pavement ends. Plus, you've gotta admit, it's one of the coolest looking bikes on the road.

Writer has basically covered all angles and major points. I would like to add that, as a biker with somewhat limited mechanical ability, I find the KLR650 to be one of the easier bikes to work on, especially with the backup of the endless info, opinions, and experiences of the KLR mail list @yahoo. Again, well done!
