| gooseme2's Full Review: 2000 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Nomad Fi |
I've had this bike a little over a year now, and have never enjoyed riding as much as I do now. I ride to work (65 mi. each way) more than I drive my cage,(It handles good in the rain with good protection from the windshield )and I'm the guy who shows up to work with a smile 'cause I know I'm gonna get to ride home.
My wife and I rode up to Niagra Falls this summer and over to Seneca Rocks WV.( through the mountains )in September and My Nomad loved every minute.
I get 43 mpg and a nice smooth ride with plenty of power good wind protection and comfortable riding position. It is very low maintenance (change the oil and put gas in it)(they recommend 92 but I run 87 with no pinging). The fuel injection is sweet and the motor has lots of grunt and a broad powerband. the trans shifts smooth and fifth is supposed to be like an o/d but could be taller. The hard bags hold lots of stuff (like rain and/or cold weather gear) and you can adjust the shock pressure to handle it (I run 25-35 psi). You can also adjust the shocks for road conditions, softer for flat smooth roads, stiffer for rough or tight twisty ones.
this bike does everything well, but the open road is where it really shines.
If you have a HARLEY complex but can't afford one (or just don't want to pay out the ----) or if you just want to ride ,alot, like all the time, then this could be the bike for you.
