Pros: Tons of power, plenty of low end torque!
Cons: Small fuel tank, awful stock seat.
The Bottom Line: I would say that the 1400 Intruder is a great way to experience motorcycling at an inexpensive price.

| sniperxx's Full Review: 2000 Suzuki INTRUDER 1400 |
I purchased my 1997 Intruder 1400 new in June of 1998. After owning a Suzuki GS 550E, and a Honda Magna, I found the looks of the Intruder very appealing!
With looks aside,(sleek lines, excellent chrome finish and that "chopper look")performance was the main reason I still own my Intruder.
This bike flat out gets going when you turn the throttle! I operated several crusiers in the 1400 class, and believe me, there are no other bikes that can out perform the Intruder in the "pucker factor" department!
Just turn the throttle (opps, I said this before) and let her rip! The bike handles darn well, you can cruise your neighborhood blvd. and look good at it. You can also take a friend and look like the happy couple, but make sure the friend has a very narrow behind, because the passenger seat on the Intruder is small.
Speaking of seats, If you do buy and Intruder, make sure your replace the stock seat, or enhance the comfort somehow. I couldn't ride more than 100 miles before my "butt" started to get sore form the stock seat! I added a gell pad to the seat, and now it's much more comfortable.
Since I'm talking on the negative side...the gas tank could be larger. I mean, it's gets down right maddening to have to refuel every 110-120 miles on a trip with the guys! I mean, you have the fastest bike out of the group (we are all older that 35, so we all ride cruisers) but you are the first to signal for a gas stop...go figure!
Seriously...
The bike is a wonderful piece of machine that has given me countless hours of enjoyment! It has all the needed ingredients that make up a well rounded motorcycle. Low end torque, smooth cruiser ride, sleek lines and finish, shiny chrome, and reliability. (Oh did I for get to mention POWER)
If you are looking for a rather inexpensive crusier, but don't want to give up on what I just mentioned above, get the Intruder. You won't be disappointed!
