| Billies's Full Review: 2000 Suzuki INTRUDER 800 |
I was originally going to purchase a Harley. But the price for what they wanted was more than I wanted/could go for. I went to the shop to have my Yamaha 650 fitted for new shoes and there it was, the Intruder 800. I was instantly impressed with it's look. The following week I purchased it and have been in love ever since. It has great handling on curvy roads and is very quick to respond on the throttle at any given speed. I drove this bike 3 thousand miles the first 6 weeks I owned it and became very familiar with it's ride. Went to the Open house with it in York PA at the Harely plant and alot of the Harley owners were very impressed with it. From the distance it looks like a Low Rider. Just costs less. I know of several HD owners now looking to buy the Intruder this year. The bike has quick speed and pick up. Vibration is almost nil. I am not short but if you have short legs this is the bike for you. It's low stance allows you to be able to get your feet on the road and not on your toes. I have had it at the shop twice for work. Once for the 1K check up and just recently for a clamp that came loose where coolant came out. I did have an idle problem with it after it broke in. But the dealer just adjusted the carbs a bit richer. It hesitated from a take off. A friend of mine bought a 1400 Intruder and I can over run him in take off and long runs. This bike is worth taking a look at if you want a nice cruiser and can't afford an HD. Look out Harley you have some competition out there.
