| firefly's Full Review: 2000 Suzuki INTRUDER 800 |
As I am typing this I am looking across at my 87' Suzuki Intruder and wishing it wasn't 40 degrees and sleeting. OK I have ridden in 40 degree temp's before but slush and freezing rain and quick bikes shouldn't mix. Speaking of mixing, I will now share my favorite recipe for adrenaline.
First preheat atmosphere to a balmy 77 degrees.
Next place the "KEY" ingredient in the bike and slowly turn.
Riders pulse should begin to quicken as he hears the Cobra pipes growl
Place safety gear on as not to attract additional tickets.
NOTE: If you buy this bike to look like a Harley rider you will be despised among the biking community, please insert original styling to rider at this point to make recipe a success.
Next climb down onto the bike, taking care not to drool on your tank.
Slosh fuel in tank to ensure a return ride is possible.
Carefully ride through town to the stretch of road which contains "Dead mans curve, Devil's bend, Satan's twisted nightmare or whatever they call it in your town"
Carefully remove thoughts of lonely wife and kids, should you not return.
Snap right wrist toward road and BAKE at 90 mph for 30 minutes or until glazed.
Since you will never get an 87' in as good of shape as mine I will give you some specs from a new one.
Engine: 805cc four-stroke, liquid cooled, 45 degree V-twin, SOHC, 8-valves, TSCC Bore/Stroke:83.0 x 74.4mm Compression Ratio: 10.0:1 Carburetor: FRONT: Mikuni BDS36 REAR: Mikuni BS36
Lubrication: Wet
This bike gets all that torque to the road with a shaft drive. [ Caution concerning shaft drive bikes; when cornering, the shaft and joints tend to compress giving the illusion of the feeling that the bike is sliding out from under the rider, if the rider reacts suddenly to correct this feeling there is a chance he will DIE. Once this compression is understood I feel it ads to the thrill of a good corner.]
Shaft vs. Chain? Well it depends who you talk to but since your talking to me, SHAFT? No more chain breaks or adjustments or maintenance.
Tranny: Five speed electric

REAR: Swingarm, oil damped, 5-way adjustable spring preload
