| lparton's Full Review: 2000 Suzuki INTRUDER 800 |
I bought my bike used, in 2004, and it is a 2001. The bike only had 1,700 miles on it. Super bike. It has torque to burn. Speed limit is somewhere in excess of any sensible riding, I needed 85 once, and it got there from 60, in less than the length of one car! No downshifting required. True point and shoot.
I agree with the issue of squeaking brakes. Fix that with $30 set of EBC pads, and a little brake goop on the backs of the shims. Problem solved. The gas tank is only good for 100 miles, as you can see in other reviews. My 50+ year old backside has no problem with that plan.
The seat is a bit of a problem if you are planning to sit there for the full length of a tank of gas. I replaced mine with a Corbin Dual Touring seat. They even matched the burgundy color of my bike with some of the trim. It makes a very very big difference, especially on the passenger.
Plan to put a fork bag, for a few extra tools, insurance paperwork, etc.. And a rear luggage rack is a + also.
I would highly recommend forward controls if you are taller than 5' 6" . Your legs will appreciate your consideration. Careful with these forwards, different brands give more or less extension. Get the ones that fit YOUR frame, not your mind's eye. They will all look good, but the one that fits your legs will be the ones you will be most happy with.
