| JPG88's Full Review: 2000 Suzuki MARAUDER 800 |
This is my first new bike... and overall it's fantastic.
I love the low, stretched look of the Marauder. It's fun to get complements on it wherever I go in Central Texas. My ride is beige and maroon. One of the cool features of the Marauder is the removable back seat. I usually ride with it off (looks better to me) but if my wife wants a ride one bolt and we're cruising together. Another plus was the price... about 1/3 the cost of a similar (looking) Harley.
One of my favorite features is the almost straight handle-bar... just right. The bike has "The Look." The wheels are very easy to keep clean (no wire spokes) and help with the "custom cruiser" look.
The only negative I can think of is the seat and seating position. While I LOVE the way it looks with the pegs stretched waaayyyy out front, this puts a lot of stress on my tailbone on rides longer than about 30 minutes. I've ridden for over 2 hours straight, but had a SERIOUS case of "numb-butt." The bike is a boulevard cruiser, not a touring bike, and ridden as such around town there's no discomfort.
