| atvandmxman42's Full Review: 2000 Suzuki RM80 |
I rode my buddies 2000 RM80 and man did I have a blast. At first I thought that it wouldn't be like my other friend's Yamaha YZ80, bit man was I wrong.
If I were to drag the Suzuki and the Yamaha, the Suzuki would definately win.
When comparing the power characteristics, the Yamaha has very bad low-end which turns into uncontrolable surge of horsepower in the top-end, while the suzuki has a good low-end surge so it would get a little boost it in front of the Yamaha and the still-strong mid-range turns in to a very controlable kick-butt top-end. Eventually the Yamaha will catch up because of the mid-range hits and the substantually higher top-speed.
Now if you were to have a little FMX competition, the Yamaha would win because the up-to-date suspension components.
If you have jumps larger than 10 feet in mind, don't get the RM. I rode my friends off the side of the bleachers down at the track and I sprained my ankle, no-joke! I landed safely and the bike did too exept for the big "kaplunk!" from the bottoming suspension.
If your a beginner thinking of getting a MX bike the Suzuki is the best most friendly way to look.
